You can't with Apple Silicon. It's shameful in my opinion. You still can load a core dump or view the state after a NMI but you can't run the kernel under a debugger.

If you have experience with QEMU now there is good support for MacOS 8/9/X in ppc and there is an alpha version with initial support for System 7/8/A/UX on 68k. It's still a PITA but at least it's similar

There might be something in what you are saying but it's not really like that. The current macOS is humungous, kernel aside. There is a variety of systems running under the hood (Spotlight, fsevents, Apple Events, duet, launchd, MIGs,

That's significant. The ayatollahs came to power thanks to big popular support (audio cassettes of khomeini). Now a popular uprising is specifically against religious restrictions. In the meantime empirically the army has all the power

There is no "modern" C but "C with additional niceties". And those additions are usually low key enough to be adopted by a good portion of the compilers out there. When you have a C code base or experience with C those f

I have come to realize that every imposition of power from an individual or a group has the same characteristics. From a narcissistic single person in the family, to an evangelist, a religion, a state. They all follow the same patterns. It&

You are perfectly right. And yet the swiftness of that move made that a fait accompli pretty quickly so people forget that. A better line would be "before the 2022 invasion ..."

It saddens me a lot but my prediction is that these protest won't overthrow anything. As long as there is no help from at least part of the military there is no hope for the protests to grow into a revolution. We have seen it in Belaru

Nice! System programming languages are having a revival. I wonder if big companies will eventually rewrite their systems in those new languages. Will I live to see a Rust XNU/Linux/NT kernel? What's certain is that the periph
