I spend 5 years doing mathematics and still can't wrap my head around lot of maths. If you really want to see the difficulty in Computer science you'll have to go explore the theoretical stuff which at the end is just maths.

I have such relationship with mathematics. I really like it and until certain point I was good at it. Then at the university I really struggled with all the abstraction. I did finish my degree in mathematics but with barely passable grades.

Yeah I have told recruiters no way I am moving to places like Munich unless I am getting a big jump at least 15-20% over my current salary. Housing is such an expensive mess in big German cities.

You can compare cost of living on numbeo. We are talking about tech workers here. Most of the tech employers offer quite generous benefit in USA including healthcare, generous parental leaves and vacations. Also 401K is so common among tech
