Hey - I would like an invite. I contacted the founder the day it was released, 4 days after and 2 weeks after, all with well thought out emails which I spent some serious time on. Unfortunately he didn't respond to any off them, not even wi

Peanuts would surely be a luxury item if you had none. Honestly, though, doesn't using VoIP seem way harder than pressing one button on Facebook? As someone who's never used it, I would have to go through the effort of Googling for a client

I was being sarcastic with the E-Mail one - but to be honest among younger people, at least in my area, you would never meet someone and say "So, what's your E-Mail address?" - you just ask for their full name and find them on Facebook, or

I really don't understand the anti-facebook nature of HN users, personally I think it's a fantastic product, it perfectly fulfills my use case. I'm 20 years old, I feel that's somehow relevant before I give my long list of anecdotes. When I

What counts as high karma? As far as I can remember, I've always been able to change the colour of the top bar, although it may just be my lapsing memory.

This is fantastic. Just installed it and I love it already. I would however make the links slightly darker. What I liked most about this, as a Chrome user, was one click installation through an add-on. It was as simple as clicking a link an

As someone who comes from the United Kingdom where the tax payer funded NHS takes care of most medical fees, it strikes me as ridiculous that any country could expect their tax paying citizens to pay for the privilege to carry on living.

I was wrong ------------------------------- After reviewing the source code, they use javascript to submit a form which redirects you to another website, carrying along some marketing data such as what brought you to them, etc.

More than likely, the way I would do it would be to wait for content entry, IE, your "o.O", post my message along with a redirect for a few seconds lag. To give you time to read that you were being redirected before redirecting you.

Presumably, they either used Javascript via: document.location.href = " http://www.google.com/ " or the HTML meta redirect: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= http://www.google.com/ "> Both of which can redirect your brows

http://www.runescape.com has been rewritten entirely in WebGL, they just released the beta and are upgrading the entire game in the next month or so. It's pretty big news, as far as I know they are the first major MMO to swap to WebGL. Th

I suppose so, but putting it in to perspective, if you were earning $200,000, you would be earning 10x my current wage. I'm on the other end of the scale - if I did move to Silicone Valley, my income would at least triple within the first c

I'm a PHP dev working with Apache on a daily basis, but besides .htaccess and some minor changes I can't really do much. I would love an article which explained in a simple way how to scale your server and really debug problems with it.

There seems to be a massive anti-Yahoo struggle going on in HN at the moment but I feel we need to look at this impartially. For better or for worse, the fate of the company is tied directly to the actions of Marissa Mayer now, this is no l

I hear good things about Woocommerce [1] these days if you're using Wordpress for your main site. It's no where near in the realm of Magento, but fine if you're looking for something simpler but less powerful. [1] http://www.woothemes.com/
