I agree-disagree. I agree that the main appeal of HN is undoubtedly the community. There's no other place where you can be exposed to so many no-bullshit comments and submissions from so many people so deeply embedded in the industry.

I have no idea if any of the others have such promises, but wouldn't you agree that Google kind of stands out from the Three Big cloud providers when looking at the historical rate of service deprecation? It's not an accident that

I know NaCl is from Bernstein and his team, but what about Gutmann? Are you referring to cryptlib [0]? [0] https://www.cryptlib.com/

Thanks for the info. Makes complete sense to require a PIN with resident keys, I'm glad. Now I'll need to write the article myself, with this information included :)

That sounds fascinating. Would be very interesting to read more about your IoT fleet, tasks, and deployment with that stack.

This one had quite a lot of background, but also the needed commands: https://www.stavros.io/posts/u2f-fido2-with-ssh/ With a properly set-up token, basically you only need 2 commands: ssh-keygen -t ed25519-s

OpenSSH 8.4 added support for FIDO2. It's literally the same commands (with some different parameters) to take into use as a normal keypair. And FIDO2 tokens are becoming quite affordable. To me 2FA with SSH became a solved problem wit

Keep in mind that those numbers are for the absolute top tech companies even in the US (and by extension, the world). Even in the PPE top 10, the last one Texas Instruments is ~40k less than the number 5. It would be actually very, very int

This sounded very intriguing, but I have to agree with the other comments that it is not very clear what the actual focus is. It is at the same time confusing and frankly quite unbelievable that zenoh seems to target everything from couple-

Thanks. That sounds like a reasonable explanation, and anecdotally I don't remember ever having major performance problems with SSH, even on mobile networks, so it makes sense that there ia something preventing this particular error mo

That sounds very interesting. Do you have any technical sources that I could delve deeper into? I've always thought that SSH tunneling / port forwarding suffers from the exact problems outlined in TFA.

Have to say I'm amazed at the speed of Starlink deployment. When I first heard about it it seemed similar to autonomous cars: probably mostly feasible, but years in the making so all technical constraints can be overcome. But here we a

Thanks for mentioning this. Never heard of Azure RTOS before, but it seems MS went and bought Express Logic. That's quite big. But it doesn't seem to be MIT? https://github.com/azure-rtos/threadx/blob

Call me old-fashioned, but I think that's a very good monetization model for the web that I can definitely get behind. It's almost exactly like ads in dead-tree newspapers, which is to say much less intrusive than the ones on TV,
