I've been doing Duolingo religiously for about 150 days now. like anything, it is what you make of it. My Spanish has gotten significantly better during that time, and I think I'm learning at a faster pace than I did in high schoo

it absolutely is. I do a lot of embedded programming, and tmp is used heavily in libraries to offload as much as possible to compile time.

no, constexpr was correct for a reason. it's great to have a single function that can both be runtime or compile-time if allowed. it results in less code. they knew what they were doing.

if you're using unsafe then what's the argument to use rust? the comparison should be what you can't do in rust without unsafe.

the problem is PCIe speeds are increasing faster than network. pcie5 can hit 500Gbps in theory, but the network is only 400Gbps.

you may have been asked this before in older stories, but why freebsd other than legacy reasons, and why not dpdk? is it purely because you need the fastest TCP implementation?

template metaprogramming is used extensively in libraries. c++20 didn't really change that; it makes metaprogramming nicer to read, but it does not obviate the need for it.

they are unsafe because if you try to cast something that's not valid the compiler won't let you. you can then choose to ignore it and be unsafe, or figure out the problem and fix it.

templates are one of the best features of c++. they're complicated because they're powerful. they certainly aren't perfect, but you won't find anything like them in other popular languages.

I'm not going to argue about this. go look up flight aware data. when a given airline has a dozen or so planes in the same beam because of a hub, it creates massive congestion. people use the internet whether they're on the ground
