I'm not sure you were reading this thread. obviously anything can be written without shared memory, but they will be much, much slower, and using a GPU becomes less appealing. the entire purpose of the article and project is that it&#x

I'm talking about realistic kernels, which aren't that simple. sure, we can also say that multiplying two arrays doesn't need it. but everything from gemm to FFT does.

shared memory and L1 are the same on modern GPUs, but shared memory gives you control of what goes on there. I agree with dragontamer that it's absolutely essentially to have atomics and shared.

fwiw, and I think you know this, shared memory does not have to by preallocated. dynamic shared memory allows you to allocate at kernel launch time.

Alec Baldwin was practice shooting at someone who wasn't even an actress. why? why even aim at anyone at that point? he's as much to blame as anyone else.

Are you really comparing a refurbished laptop to a new one so you can find a price that matches?

I've worked at many tech companies and apple are by far the minority. And that's a biased sample size of really the largest market they have.

Again, there is a huge memory bandwidth bottleneck. It's ddr versus gddr and hbm. It's not even close. The m1 will be slower.

Terrible, terrible take. GPU ram is about 10x faster than ddr in practical usage, so your worloads can finish and a new batch can be transferred over pcie faster than the apple would finish the first pass.

At some point you need to take a few minutes to learn new technologies in a tech career. Kubernetes is just not that hard if you spend a little time understanding it. You don't need a service mesh. Calico is very simple, or you can use

Kubernetes has been a single binary with hyperkube for over 5 years. This argument is really tiring.

I also maintained several kubernetes clusters and never found it very difficult. We never had any major outages, and the only downtime was trying new features.

Staying power has nothing to do with what the article is saying. Casinos also have staying power, but they're 100% gambling.

It's not though. Recent studies show long covid drops off about 4 months and goes away completely after 6. Only a tiny fraction of a percent see anything beyond that.

You don't believe those sites are making a ton of money on ads? My whole family is anti vaxxers, I've seen the websites and the YouTube channels. All of these places are making tons of money off providing bad takes on statistics.

Exactly! Thanks for proving the point. It was a collective effort of people/companies pushing a good programming language rather than a single company (Oracle) doing it. Not to mention that they license it in certain cases.

The sarcasm didn't make sense. The conference was started way, way later, by community organizers from all companies. This completely disproves that it was a major money push from one company.
