Not exactly, the problem was that Canonical collected some money during 2012 to 2013 that was supposedly earmarked for Ubuntu flavors. However, there is no accounting for that money at the moment, though something is being worked on. There&

Same boat as you, I have a Late 2011 model, with the extended warranty, burnt through one motherboard because of the silly heating issues, but even that after ~3 years of use, the month before the warranty expired. New one has been working
