Ironically Joel seems to be missing something that YUI Grids ( http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/grids ) and Blueprint ( http://code.google.com/p/blueprintcss ) both allow you to reorder the content of a page. Sure it's not totally arbitrary,

I'm pretty sure that it would be considered a hate crime in the UK. This is an arrestable offense which can carry a range of punishments depending on the severity (e.g. physical assault vs verbal assault). See http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/

The author's point might have been better if there weren't a bunch of CSS libraries which have already solved this ( http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/grids/ and http://code.google.com/p/blueprintcss/ to pick two). You wouldn't rewrite cstd

I think the problem is that doing good frontend is a skill like any other programming skill. If you don't practice you aren't as skilled. I get sick of people complaining about doing thing right being too hard. You wouldn't say someone taki

This is great advice. Most of this stuff is a snow ball. The bigger bloggers/new agencies keep an eye on smaller bloggers/new agencies to source material from. If you get some good local success you are much more likely to be able to approa

It's interesting that rather than building a micro-library they've chosen to use a compile time instead. I guess I'd prefer to see this integrated into my usual JS libraries (YUI, jQuery). That said it's pretty interesting. Even if some of

It's interesting, after you commented I looked up NLP on Wikipedia and was honestly surprised at it's debunking. I've read a few NLP books: NLP for Dummies, NLP for the modern manager and a range of literature from people like Tony Robbins,

I have a copy of this on my shelf. It's an interesting book but the negotiation techniques can be pretty crude compared with modern NLP. Mostly it's good advice. To sum it up in one word be genuine .
