To follow up on Daniel's answer, here's a demo video showing how powerful link-parsing + link connections are https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEo6jsPD524 Hopefully it's also a bit of an answer to #2, showing

Long story short, we give you a way to declare what rate-limiting strategy you want. - You can tell us to immediately fail the whole query right away, - Fail just that sub-part of the query - Back off for that API and try again (delaying yo

Great question, we spend a lot of time on overall latency questions. If you're hitting a single API endpoint (imagine getting a tweet without getting the user information), we'll introduce an overall latency of ~100-ms. So this

Interesting! Were you doing a server-to-github integration, or were you using the GraphQL API directly from the frontend?

How much work is it to add a new language if you have to get it into your own format? We use some esoteric languages (Clojure and Reason/OCaml) so I don't expect Optic to support our use case any time soon, but I'd be curious

I think snark isn't pre-emptible, they're just giving the best possible price on GCE (steelman argument, which is impressive), but it is a bit confusing. From https://cloud.google.com/compute/pricing it l

Would you be willing to flesh out that comment? As it is, I don't really understand why, and I feel it's overly negative (though I expect to understand why I'm wrong once you explain it more fully).

I had someone ask me the cycle detection question once, and I didn't care for how they phrased it. Specifically, should I find it immediately upon entering the first cycle (at a higher memory/time cost) or should I just eventua

Infuriating, I'm a huge fan of these services. I initially thought they would just be toys, but they've removed any uber/lyft around the city for me - they're both faster and cheaper, they park just like bicycles, they d

The volumetric video rendering they showed seems particularly compelling for me, having played a bit more with VR recently. What're the current methods for doing reasonable volumetric video capture? I had a set up of kinects a few year

I think that's a benefit to the finance industry, certainly, but believe the OP may have been thinking about using microwaves for normal non-tech-saavy consumer, in which case inclement weather might be aggravating for them.

I ran into this question a lot when speaking about ReasonML, and am quite a fan of Elm as well. I wanted to address it holistically, so (if you'll forgive the shameless plug), I did a talk on some of the motivations of ReasonML (as I s

I've not been to the Tokyo meetups, but I certainly enjoyed the HN Kansai meetup. I met some interesting people hacking on (somewhat niche) fun things - game dev, web design, cryptocurrency, etc. Definitely recommend it!

This has definitely been a challenge for me in Clojure when trying to use a library that isn't well-documented. Using the REPL helps because I can throw random things at it quickly, but it's still very frustrating. An interestin
