The primary use I see is as a super scientist / mathematician. If nothing else AGI, and especially super-intelligence will probably cause other areas of technology to advance at unprecedented rates. This may or may not be to our benefi

I mean, anyone who cared was not waiting on the tool being shipped with kali linux to start using it. So including it is mostly a convenience thing .

tbf you would also believe all this micro service, kubernetes, react, w/e is just another fad that will fade away and that “real engineers” know better. I see both opinions here.

Reading permutation city right now. Egdan is a master at what he does, just don’t except strong characters, that’s not what he’s about!

I’d love to see an outline of this, I don’t know where to find these farmers. I briefly bought eggs from a local farmer but after moving have not been able to find a similar arrangement.

All these life skills are great, I was also going to say mathematics though. It’s well known that languages are much easier to pick up for children, I think math is similar. Even if your daughter never uses it outside of school, fluency mak

For anyone wondering, a rebrand has been rumored for some time, and this is the first official press release using a new name.

The official Emacs.app also supports using the Command shortcuts while keeping all the normal emacs commands the same. In general I find that the app plays nicely with MacOS and I prefer it over aquamacs since emacs.app is newer (right now

Hmm maybe, I would want to avoid donating to big projects supported by google etc though and instead focus on smaller community projects, regardless of their usage. Measuring usage in general I think will be tricky..

I’ve been using Xarray recently (mentioned as an implementation of named tensors in the article) and I have to say I like it a lot. It’s really a game changer and makes my code a lot more readable.

I mean to be fair the user telling you the question is not SO material offered you two alternative communities to post the question in. Is there something lacking in those communities? In general I’ve found there are specific discord/s

I’m not familiar with the situation, but I guess this means the pypy team can try to monetize the project somehow now?

Terrifying, I wonder how big of a miner community you need to stop this from happening. How much would it cost to do this for bitcoin?

Is the debugger in Vs code or anywhere else better now? I remember trying Julia just a few months ago and the debugger frustrated me enough that I went back to print statement debugging.

The biggest value prop for me is when you need something done fast that’s not already in scipy etc. In python you will need to write a C extension or fumble with numba / cython / whatever, in Julia you just write it. I also think

I think all of OpenAI’s gym environments use Mujoco with rk4, but the engine supports both rk4 and semi implicit euler, and the default is actually Euler. Seems like that is the default for almost all robot focused sims too, see some benchm

Fixed step Rk4 is really not very complex once you understand numerical integration. Not that you need it, plus it will be about 4x slower.

They don’t need blood but they need energy, planes don’t flap their wings but they need to generate lift. Whatever the function of sleep is, I think artificial minds will likely need it too.

I think there is also the impression that, even if china has not already been leaning on TikTok, if they ever did TikTok would necessarily relent. Whereas in the US we have examples of companies (e.g. apple) denying requests from the Feds.

Well I think it’s ok in general for some information to be lost, but I think a lot of HN users value this specific information.
