About 150. This seems pretty good to me for a free Heroku instance, it could probably handle more on AWS.

We might be hitting the limits of Heroku's free instance… Try http://demo2.telesc.pe/ or http://demo3.telesc.pe/ if the site's demo link doesn't work.

Of course, Leakmap is a great example of what you can build with Telescope!

Very cool! That reminds me I've been thinking about a way to integrate YouTube videos into Telescope (like Reddit does with video links).

I'll let Tom answer your first question, but regarding the backend database so far only Mongo is supported, although more database options are coming (see the Meteor roadmap here: https://trello.com/board/meteor-roadmap/508721606e02bb9d570

Oh and by the way, the Telescope demo is hosted on a free Heroku instance. So far it seems to be holding up pretty good, with about 80 concurrent users.

Good point, the mobile layout should probably kick in earlier.

Thanks! One of our goals with Telescope is helping more people learn Meteor, so it was important to keep things clear and simple. I'm glad you think we achieved that!

To provide context: this post was ranked very low for a while for some reason, and I was asking why that was. But since it got pushed back up on the homepage since, I deleted my comment – without realizing that you had replied, sorry!

Thanks! Regarding the security aspect, the basic principle of data security with Meteor is to only give the client what it needs. So while it's possible to send the whole database and let the client filter it, what you really want to do is

I would say it's "use-it-for-a-side-project"-quality, but not "build-a-business-on-it"-quality just yet :)

There are already a lot of services that do exactly that. I remember one that was pretty addictive where you'd give feedback on other people's sites in exchange for points that you could use to get feedback on your own. But some quick googl

What does "I don't cook" mean? You don't like to cook? You don't know how to cook? You don't have the physical means of cooking? To me that sounds like the real problem to solve.

This kinda goes against the trend of selling yourself as providing value and not merely your time, but you can also ask to be pre-paid for a certain amount of time. Similar to a pre-paid cell phone plans, ask your client to buy 10 hours (or

Very cool! I haven't "officially" released Telescope (a.k.a the big HN post) yet because of a couple remaining bugs, but once I do I'll be sure to include a link to Leakmap to show what kind of things you can do with it :)

Sorry for going completely off-topic, but I'm slightly annoyed at the overuse of adverbs like "hauntingly" and "wildly". "Hauntingly" might be tolerated here even if it is very hyperbolic, but "wildly low-cost"? What does that even mean?! W

Very nice sketches. But I want to point out that if you don't sketch you shouldn't feel like you're "doing it wrong". Sketching is not a required step. Starting straight in Photoshop (or even in the browser) are both valid methods too.

I don't believe Jeff is being dishonest, but it did occur to me that if one was paid out to advertise a product, that's exactly how you'd do it.

As a designer, I can certainly say there are tons of designers who ship ugly designs. Do those designs convert well? Sure. Is the client happy? Yep. Does that make them good designers? No, definitely not.

Great execution. I love how the site pops up from the bottom on the landing page and you can use it right away, that's an awesome idea for any kind of demo. I might just steal it for my own projects!
