I wonder if HN should permit duplicate URLs. Maybe with a message saying that the URL has already been posted and asking if you're sure you want to double post (I think that might be what Reddit does?).

For some reason, I understood this headline as "75% of a human brain replaced with 3D-printed material". I must say it left me perplexed for a few seconds… (maybe my brain could be replaced by 3D-printed material after all…)

Note that you could make curl http://demo.telesc.pe/ work just fine with Meteor's Spiderable package, which is simply not installed for the Telescope demo. Also, obviously the goal is that it should work properly without any package. Me

Author here. What I meant is that as of now, all Meteor sites have a fairly substantial loading delay (generally a couple seconds) due to the way Meteor works. So for sites or apps where loading speed has a direct impact on your bottom line

I posted my own Meteor app to HN the other day and it held up under traffic just fine: http://hnwishlist.com So don't blame Meteor :)

You asked "what's the argument of the site?". The About section makes it very clear that this is a fun side project built as a way to showcase what Telescope can do, and that I don't really expect these ideas to be implemented into the actu

I'm not against of migrating to a "better" HN when the time has come, but I doubt it will be Reddit. I think it'll instead be something built from the ground up specifically for this community that serves its needs better than HN currently

Maybe at some point whoever is behind hnnotify will decide they don't want to pay a huge Sendgrid/Mailgun/whatever bill anymore and shut it down. There's also the simple problem of discoverability. I never knew about hnnotify until now, sin

That's like asking for tutorials that show you how not to use shadows, gradients, and highlights. It's a bit of a contradiction…

Thanks for the feedback! And until I implement downvotes, maybe you could add quick comments to explain why you think those are bad ideas?

This is not a good idea for a simple reason: you need the practice. The only way to get better at writing is to write. So I strongly suggest you make an active effort to regularly find things to write about, instead of just waiting for insp

Good point. But I wouldn't say it's more important, for the simple reason that you can write for the wrong audience or with the wrong tone, and still get writing practice and slowly sharpen up your writing skills. But if you don't know w

The problem here is that before Bootstrap, the only way for a non-designer to get something decent was to hire a designer. Now thanks to Bootstrap there's a whole new middle-ground of gets-the-job-done design that doesn't suck but is also v

This is not a criticism of this project specifically, but I feel like when you come out with a framework like this you should have a big "Why you should use Framework XYZ instead of Boostrap" section somewhere, because this is the main ques

Actually, when I wrote that "it all started with the iPhone" I meant the current trend of realistic toggles, checkboxes, wood textures, etc. in mobile and web apps. I completely agree that skeuomorphism and realism are nothing new, but I do
