Any chance you could file bugs, particularly on the JS-related performance issues? I'm looking into some similar things right now, but seemingly JS-centric things seem to have a tendency to actually be from something else. It'd be

As the article described, JS engines are not implementing features in "spec order". I expect async/await to get wide support fairly soon. (Though my opinion doesn't count for much. I work on SpiderMonkey, but I'm no

I've used it, and I've been using rr. gdb's reverse debugging was useful to me a few times, in extremely limited situations. I often do my initial runs under rr, just in case I might want to debug, because it's useful mo

Ok, then turn off the embedded advertising. Your users are going to continue seeing ads all over the web no matter what browser they use, and in fact will be tracked by advertisers (less so if they take steps to avoid it, but that's up

I doubt it. I'm guessing this won't bring in significant money for a while at least, and it'll lose users in the short term. Monetizing search, as with the Google now Yahoo deal, is where the money for developers comes from.

Sure, but if Kalzumeus can't verify the candidate's identity while playing the game, how could they verify it afterwards? Until someone physically walks through your door, you really have no guaranteed way of knowing who you'

Meh. The port-forwarding bit is probably unnecessary. And yes, there's a good chance you'll end up hacked and still poor, but there's still a decent chance that you'll end up with a large salary and not hacked. I suspect

Sorry, I don't see the connection. Yes, a successful candidate is worth a lot of money to Kalzumeus, and they are incented to make sure that the solutions are real and not plagiarized. But that salary is worth even more to that success

Hey job seekers. I'm level 45 in starfighter with a power VI blaster in C++ and IX in Python. $100 to get you to level 30, x1.5 per level above that (though obviously I can't get you above 45, but I know a guy so I can subcontract

Errrr... I'm not really getting the tenor of many of the comments here. For one, look at what he isn't saying. But start with what we know. He is being fired. That means he isn't leaving by choice, and most likely doesn't want to be leav

Remember, my article was about incentive structure. Webkit's evolution so far has NOT been in the context of a monoculture, so pointing to past behavior as evidence for future actions within a monocultural context doesn't hold up. I would g

Doh! You are absolutely right, which is sad since I was using a mental model of invasive species when I wrote the post, and even pondered how some plant species do great, smothering and outcompeting the natives, until a fire comes through d

Good point, and I should probably update the article to include something. Servo is one way, though I fear it's a bit too far out still to make much of a dent in the mobile web for quite some time. Still, it may be a good choice depending o

I honestly apologize for that. My post grew out of a thought I had that if someone wrote a sim-type game about the Browser Wars, then it would be a lot easier to demonstrate to people the ramifications of the forces at play. The only way to

Odd. I've heard other reports that Chrome falls apart on high numbers of tabs (I'm not sure why that would be.) There's a decent chance that most of those 200 tabs aren't loaded. If you flip through all of them once, how does it look?
