Oh great, the persuit of anorexic computing marches forth. The swappable and dual batteries on my T440 are a killer feature.

I built myself a Frankenpad T440 in Jan. Paid £180 for it on ebay (grade A used) about a year ago. Bought a 2018 MBA which was a pile of shit so decided to return that and make the T440 better. I swapped the screen out for a FHD one for £39

Microsoft's schitzophrenic management, comedy marketing, internal politics, zero ability to deliver, non existent QA, disrespect for the end user and the migration to a monthly fee wrote it off. A consistent well executed vision is req

Exactly. In this circumstance at the lowest I had £12 to buy a week of food. I had to cash advance the rent from my credit card and the £12 was what was left. I also had to maintain a perfect appearance and state of mind and hide all thi

I worked for a similarly horrible person many years ago. I was doing on call support for a bunch of Linux machines. Literally it was him and me left because the moment I started the other two engineers bailed. One went to work packing salad

I disagree with this actually. I've had a MacBook for a number of years and bought a new one (a 2018 MacBook Air). The keyboard on it was awful and stopped working properly resulting in duplicate key hits. I was also fighting half of t

Probably costs more and after the recent cell network outage here, caused by a certificate failure, I think they prioritise availability over absolute security. Huawei seem to produce some half decent stuff aside from the security issue.

Fair points and totally agree. I was dumb enough (I would use the same words!) to buy one the first time round so I agree with you.

I don't agree with the whole thing but there is a section saying this is fair use: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2019/3/section/3/enacted 3.4.3a.b.ii

Gah. That's just horrible. There should be a minimum supported period of 6 years for all software on smart TVs, the consequences of which are full refund of the initial purchase price of the TV. That'd kill this shit overnight.

To be fair this was probably Sony. I bought one of their smart TVs and they canned the YouTube app on it after six months. Plus it was slow as molasses. I’ve only owned a cheap ass dumb bottom end Samsung TV since and life is better.

Government would shut down all the amateur radio operators pretty quickly (you’re on a database). Plus it’s not quite as romantic or reliable as it sounds, especially on HF at the moment. Go do it for sure, but you’ll find trivial confirmat

I bet that’s shut before May. I genuinely think it’s a great idea but retail is dying on its arse here and that is way too niche.

I ask for no substitutions on Ocado. I haven’t had any missing items on my receipt for months. They seem to be pushing to do explicit stock allocation and actually remove the products from the store front now if they are out of stock. It’s

As an Ocado smartpass customer who is expecting an order today, this appears to just be manifesting itself as a few items out of stock. Slightly disappointed though if I’m honest. This was the future. And now it’s going to be looked down on

Also to note that your 1KW appliances need 83 amps in a 12V DC system. This is a huge amount of current and requires special cabling (which has a not insignificant voltage drop due to the resistance of the wire) and special connectors.
