It does feel like that. We don't actually issue a signed copy now and we have had precisely one complaint and that was from an enterprise customer. We suggested they downloaded it themselves and gave them the sha256sum of the MSI and t

Our EV cert shows an alert. Very fucking annoyed if I’m honest. And yes it was SHA-256. Several days and a pile of cash fucking around with WIX and signtool for what exactly?

Slightly off topic but I wonder how you handle time where dilation is present. For example if a spacecraft travels to mars and there is mars local time, plus time dilation from the journey, when does a transmission start from a reference fr

The average user clicks through privacy agreements and contracts without looking. It's up to us to promote good behaviour by technology vendors rather than say I told you so later which is the current status quo.

It's more "something crashed, can we send this information to help diagnose the problem? Here's a big textbox from which you can review what we're sending if you want". Versus "screw you we're taking it an

Yes Java has been a perpetural problem, at least the official JRE and JDK. The JRE ships with junk and the JDK forces you to forge an agreement cookie to download it. OpenJDK is fine however.

Maybe, maybe not. They record 3 octets of your IP address and the experience is opt-out rather than opt-in. ECJ ruled that IP addresses are PII but did not specify if using a partial address is OK. On the basis it is the 3 most significant

It is until you start treating the 6502 as a RISC CPU with 256 registers at 0x0000. I had that “ohhhhh” moment when I had a BBC master back in the late 80s. Zero page FTW. Z80 feels like wading in treacle after that. X86 is an abomination
