No. An organisation buys in “agile” as an ideological solution to a lack of disciplined professionals. Disciplined professionals self organise. No ideology is ever discussed even if they use it. The difference is focus. And that’s crazy imp

I’m certainly not blaming a framework for lack of discipline. I’m saying that lack of discipline breeds a framework to try and control the lack of discipline whereas the problem of discipline should be resolved first. When you retrofit a pr

I’ve noticed, still after a decade, people who know what they’re doing will self organise into an “agile ish” way of working similar to the points you make. If you prescribe it you end up with a mess every time. Agile occurs naturally if yo

Yes this is an amazingly dangerous and stupid idea. Sure it looks cool but so does a Lamborghini until it catches fire or you crash it into a tree at 150mph. Giving a user an opportunity to correct mistakes before they kill themselves is a

I agree with this entirely. I don't think we will be jumping in starships and shooting ourselves all over the universe. I think some form of self replicating technology we create will be dispatched en masse into the universe where it w

As someone who has used jQuery on one project for about 10 years I disagree. Some big problems: 1. Upgrading jQuery has been hell over the years. Literally every time something wierd breaks. Major version like the 2.0 transition meant major

And a stinking pile of XXXX is exactly what we end up with. Telemetry stuffed, file deleting bug ridden pile of fucking shit. About ten years ago I had the option of taking the red or the blue pill. I took the Windows pill by mistake.

Before you do, if you have money available to throw at it, I'd probably go for a commercial rig first that can kick out 100W and start there. Yaesu FT-450D is the sort of thing that's a decent "first rig". If you can&#x

When you're doing RF stuff you're usually really only interested in single signal reception and usability. To learn about the various modes this will be way better than an SDR. The SDR sure has utility but that comes at a compromi

It’s been dying for about 30 years I understand. Kenwood, Yaesu and Icom all went bankrupt 20 year ago. Home owners associations stopped all antennas being erected and power lines and ADSL finished the charred smouldering remains off. Now

Hilariously true. Nothing worse than hearing “people” on 80m. It’s like a pub night full of racist, sexist old farts. I’m in the UK so this spans Europe as well. It’s not just a US thing. There’s less trash on 40/20m I find. I stick to

Genuine question here but why would you want to write REST APIs in C? I’ve been writing C for 25 years and I wouldn’t trust myself not to do something stupid.

If you turn it off it still runs like ass. I have spent hours on this one even down to fsutil tuning and I can't get more than about a 10% improvement. This is because the small files are stored on the MFT which is global read/wri

I'm not sure I ever liked the Mac hardware. I thought I did. TBH the old white plastic MacBooks running 10.4 was my last good experience. After that I bought a top end 2011 15" rMBP with 16Gb of RAM and 1TiB SSD. What do I use now

The slow start menu is awful. I want to press start then type what I want to open but it is so slow you have to wait nearly 2s to type or it will lose the first few characters. Add to that the search result quality is dire.

Have to agree on all points. You’ll find the slow file operations are entirely down to NTFS. Regardless of how you play around in fsutil it’s hopeless on lots of small files. This incidentally makes WSL unbearably slow. Hence why I still us
