Another ‘React before React’ is webfui from ClojureScript world: https://github.com/drcode/webfui When React was first released, general JS public was skeptical towards it, but ClojureScript community immediately embra

In the early days of Clojure, community libraries used to have the best readme-s I’ve ever seen. They always wrote what problem this library is trying to solve, what other solutions exist and how this solution compares to the others. Sadly,

Which probably means that someone with “chief scientist” title shouldn’t be using it when making public claims. Of course, he can do it for his own profit, but he is ruining the credibility of his research field, that’s why people working i

Try ‘Mathematics can be fun’ by Perelman. I was a ‘math prodigy’ in school. To me mathematics was always about solving problems, learning any theory/apparatus makes much more sense when you understand what problems it helps you solve.

Thanks for explanation! I think for the first case there is a ‘wrap in if-else’ refactoring in Webstorm/Intellij, but I rarely use it. Second case is interesting, I would be excited to have this for React components.

Sorry, maybe my wording was too abstract. What I wanted to say: if you remove a catch statement in the middle of the function, then all the code after the catch statement will not be executed if an exception is thrown.

I worked on a real-time telecom system, and had to debug issues that heavily depend on timing. Regular logging impacted performance and changed timing, but when we implemented logging properly we fixed this. Our solutions was in-memory ring

2, 3 and 4 are not Standard Model problems, but cosmological problems. There are cosmological theories that explain them by using only General Relativity without any changes to particle physics. For example, you can check out Nick Gorkavyi&

This approach is called “garbage in - garbage out”. The idea is, you can add extra checks and sacrifice some performance. But if checks are built in there is no way to remove them, even if you don’t need them and they hurt performance. Cloj

It is mentioned in the article, one of the last optimizations done there was switching to array. Also, Clojure’s HAMT was designed with CPU cache in mind and it’s performance characteristics don’t degrade over time. Immutable data structure

Number 2 is a common pattern. At first developers are exploring things and changing approaches from time to time, so the most flexible solution wins (express, redux, webpack). Then they understand exactly what they need, so they can make a

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is: 1. You are writing a DSL that works with wrapped values. 2. In this DSL you can use arbitrary pure functions from your base language. 3. The value proposition is: those pure functions should
