Just a quick remark but for a simple command line utility, I really like a static binary you only need to download, drop into a directory in the path. I am always wary of tools that need to install either a python or node.js distribution, b

Not totally unrelated, but Sonos recently bought snips.ai, a startup working on assistant with a focus on privacy and local voice recognition (and they also use some Rust). The move is likely motivated by Sonos not wanting to rely on Googl

I thought that because of the embargo Boeing could not deliver replacement parts or provide technical assistance, so I am not sure how they can be involved in the post crash investigation either.

Not answering directly your question, but I remember seeing a benchmark recently where there was more difference in performances for a program compiled with gcc and clang, than between the C++ clang and Rust performances. So I believe that

In case you don't already know they are actually working on a new version of a Dune movie to be released in two parts, first movie at the end of 2020 IIRC, directed by Denis Villeneuve

Is Tock a Real Time OS though ? They mention a preemptive scheduling, but not priority inversion for example. And they do not claim anything regarding real time in their doc.

Not really related to tech, but I find it interesting that she went from software engineering to being an editor for the New York Times and writing books. That being said once you've been a whistleblower, even for good reasons, sadly,

Is there other GUI toolkits around that could run on bare metal on a microcontroller ? I have already seen GuiLite[0] being posted on HN, but I am not sure how robust and easy to use it is. [0] https://github.com/idea4good&#

You might be a good candidate, but the recruiter has scheduled another interview next week with another candidate, and might want to see all candidates before answering.

Definitely it is a text book example of things to not do, but what is painful is that they started with good intentions. (People with good intentions are the most dangerous one though)

In my open office next door, people have been refactoring a cpp98 monolith into more interdependent components to be able to have a better test suite, better CI integration, better deployment story. That sounds about right. Well, the issue

Funnily enough the Tic-Tac description looks quite close to the fictional "Droplet" in Liu Cixin's 3 body problem. This is fiction so the author might have been influenced by this event.

This is not my experience so far, sure we have some pressure to deliver features in rather short time frame, but on the other hand, whenever the safety of the patient is involved, and indirectly the reputation of the company is at risk, thi

Answering to my own question, I have looked a bit further into github. It seems Lockwise can not work on pre Oreo android devices, so in the end, Fenix will get password sync natively as well, and this is a work in progress.
