I daily commuted on a 1300cc sport bike for 6 years (and have owned them for much longer). Only reason I don’t now is that I work from home. As a taller person I find I feel way safer on a big bike over a small one. Theyre more comfortable

It's incredible what some people are able to do inside the restrictive environment of PICO-8. I've had a blast making little games for my kids in it, it gives me a lot of those late-80s/early-90s vibes of stripping your idea

The number of hobbyist diode laser machines that come with zero enclosure or air extraction is mind boggling. It then leads people to assume that stuff is optional. It’s not.

Still got my “Webmaster” business cards from the late 90s. No one will ever understand how “cool” it was to have that title back then. Now even I cringe when looking at them but so many good memories.

I’ve been wanting something like this but so long, and had it on my list of projects to potentially try making. All I need is basic tracking of my walks/runs to motivate myself, and have zero desire for all the other bloat most fitness

https://archive.md/Xk2F4 I find it hard to trust the opinion of any “techie” who writes on Medium personally. It reeks of “I want to be an influencer!” type personalities.

All cargo/intermodal logistics stuff is measured in TEU’s, aka “Twenty foot Equivalent Units”, eg a standard shipping container. The sizes actually vary but for thinking about the numbers, pretend they’re all standard twenty foot conta

I work in container shipping (in IT for a company), we obviously have internal mapping tools we can’t share but whenever anyone is interested in this stuff I just like to point them to: https://www.marinetraffic.com/ Then i

I’ve been snorkeling and swimming with my 14 Pro Max a couple dozen times, taking videos and photos, and never had an issue. I also wash my phone under the tap regularly (weekly or more) because I spend lots of time in a grimy workshop for

It’s kinda ridiculous how good it is, you can even select text from inside a YouTube video while it’s playing (or pause if needed). Also if it’s text of a URL/domain or a QR code (eg in a photo of a poster, or in a video) you can hold-

The treads can come close together if the rear wheels lock up and the car twists/drifts, but the pattern in the sign is still “practically” impossible. Eg I can’t think of any movement a car could realistically do to make that pattern

It’s a very common project in the maker scene in general. Look up Bitluni on YT for some examples, he’s done full-wall sized ones in his house. Theres lots out there though, we’re working on a full-window one at my local hackerspace.

A screen requires a loooot more grunt than this microprocessor, not to mention a lot more battery power and supporting components. At best you could probably do a small low-res (8x8?) LED matrix with some programmed patterns but even that w

That graph animation is pretty mind blowing to watch, especially knowing it’s captured off real data not just the theory. All his videos are great in general.

Yeah I had a period before I had kids and when I worked for myself where I could sleep whenever I wanted. I’d get tired around 3-4am, go to sleep about 5am, wake up around 12-1pm, and felt great every day. The most energy, motivation, and g

Yeah I don’t remember the last time I used a screw driver. Electric screw driver for tiny stuff (one of my fav tools of the last decade+) and a small impact driver for bigger screws.

If you haven’t read all the Novellas, they’re totally worth a read. They’re some of my favourite parts of the Expanse universe. I agree though. I’m a huge Expanse fan (read all the books/novellas 5 times over, etc) and not a huge fan o
