Halfway through my third reading and still not sick of it. It’s without a doubt my favourite Sci Fi of all time.

The designers (not just UI but all of them) on The Expanse did such an incredible job. It’s probably my favourite looking Sci Fi series or movie of all time. The attention to detail is incredible too, I’m on my third watch-through of the se

Cybertruck preorders have passed 650,000 units. While a lot are definitely just doing it for "fun" since it's refundable, it's still an insanely impressive number.

Definitely. I’ve got 2 different Pioneer units (DMH-W4660NEX and another I forget atm) and I’d basically recommend any of theirs. Just get the best one you can afford from their series. Even the cheaper ones are decent but obviously get eve

Almost any car that doesn’t have CarPlay/etc can have the standard entertainment stuff stripped out and a CarPlay head unit put in using a double-din dash conversion. Costs about $4-500 for the head unit and $1-200 for the dash convers

Modern mobile games are an absolute joke. Sure there’s some gems, but a vast vast majority even from the “big” names are just junk. Eg the official Tetris requires a monthly subscription to not have ads between EVERY game, other big names o

I get 3-6 spam calls a day these days. It has increased from 0-2 a day last year, and 1-2 a week before that. It’s getting to the point where I dread my phone ringing. I can’t ignore unknown numbers because I’m getting ongoing medical treat

I just recently had someone ask me not to curse when I said “ah, damn” in relation to some trivial thing (from memory I was just expressing disappointment that a project wasn’t going ahead, or part of a project). It’s the first time in my l

Stacksmashing is well worth a follow on YouTube[0]. They’ve been cranking out some seriously awesome projects lately with very detailed breakdown videos that have taught me heaps. Reverse engineering and adding homebrew support to the Game

This sounds more like (the very very common) "never do your hobby as a job". Nearly all of their points about DIY come back to them feeling like their hobby had turned into a pressure-inducing full-time job, and that's a pers

We're too busy subsidising coal plants and taxing EVs, there's no way our Government would ever do something that's actually working towards a better future.

I teach everyone in my family to never trust the first few sponsored results now matter how convincing they may be. As far as I’m concerned Google know exactly what they’re doing and are actively complicit in perpetuating online scams again

I replaced my TV with an LG 43” 4K monitor which cost AUD$700 (similar price to a TV of the same brand/size here). It’s not quite the 50” my TV was but it’s big enough for my purposes. It has 4 HDMI inputs and zero smart features. Turn

Yeah sorry there was supposed to be an “or” between “SLA” and “filament based”, but I’ll leave it unedited so your comment still makes sense. I have a few FDM printers and have used wood filament and quite like it, it has a nice effect. It

It's mostly marketing for their printer which uses a different method to SLA filament-based printers. These are huge commercial sized machines, on par with HAAS CNCs etc, so this is aimed at an entirely different market to hobbyists us

I've been doing woodwork for a long time, and get most of my wood from used single-size bed frames on Gumtree/Marketplace. People effectively throw the beds out (or at most want AUD$20-50 for the entire thing), and they're ge

Yes, and despite the comment above that's a GOOD thing. Making things easier for people to get into, and get interested in, is always a good thing. It might not be the "best" way to do something, but if it gets them keen and

I notice this a lot in journalism in general, and I assume it’s mostly a case of “journalist A uses a phrase, other journalists read it and like it so decide to use it in their next article”.
