Remote work works great in the early days when everyone has their head buried deep in code and most of the team is scattered around the globe. But let's not forget how we homosapiens evolved - via collaborative face to face group inter

Nice insights. Thank you for sharing. This is simple. If you are hiring an engineer you should be one too. This way you can hire faster and fire faster. No bullshit. Outsourcing work overseas is 5x cheaper than local try-and-see-how-it-goes

Without knowing what lies beneath the mess.. isn't $90m in maintenance fees extremely excessive? Or have they factored in a full rewrite? What are the typical gov tech maintenance fees?

You still need private insurance to get around the quirks and delays of the public system. Saying that private insurance in AU wont cost you an arm and a leg like in the USA.

Very interesting perspective. I like it. Our brains are also made to forget. People with hyperthymesia (autobiographical memory) are not better off remembering everything. So nature has fine tuned this system of engage and forget.

Interesting article. Cheers for sharing! A brain reset (power nap) should today be accepted / common knowledge as eating healthy food to stay healthy. For power naps stay within your REM sleep. The duration varies from person to person

The big problem here is too many "overnight learn to code in 24 hours" developers choose PHP to develop by "cut & shut approach" using code they acquired online from a dingy website. This yields insecure implementati

Nice step forward. This really needs to be all around Australia not just Western Australia. With the majority of the population on the East coast, something like it or even an app like California has "Shark Net" would be super.

This wont work for tech focused startups. Google could never exist without writing a single line of code. Nor could Dropbox. etc... Yeah maybe a retail/ecommerce website sticky taped using off the shelf parts with glue, but definitely

Hard to compare a naturally aspirated motor to a turbo like your friend's M3. When a turbo in a 4 cyl spools up (x rpm) it will drain a lot of fuel.. maybe like a V8. However it still can be driven like a standard naturally aspirated 4

The magic bullet is the Turbo. Turbo helps push ridiculous amounts of pressure (psi) via compression into the motor (increasing compression ratio) to create a nice big bang to spin it really fast. But like anything that burns brighter, the

Nail down on the corruption. I bet the winners have back doors into gov incentivising the decision makers in some way. We need a YELP for work-for-hire gov shops to create transparency especially when tax dollars are involved.
