I'm using a firewalld rich rule to forward host 443 to 8443, then the proxy container has 8443:8443 mapped. Works perfectly. All on Fedora but other firewalls should be able to do the same.

And Facebook and that weird Flipboard news app and so many others. Most of which can't (or couldn't be) removed easily. Having used Samsungs before, switching to Pixels makes things so.... Clean.

With Crispr and related technologies it seems even more pertinent today than 25 years ago.

While not Linux, look at OPNSense. It's a fork of pfSense without the bad behavior of Netgate. Will run on all sorts of hardware and has been utterly reliable for me.

AWS Glacier Deep Archive. It's about $1/TB/month. Retrieve is more expensive, about $90/TB all in. You can use rclone as one simple tool.

Not sure if the mine in question does this, but there are X-Ray sensors that can go on the excavator buckets to measure ore content on each scoop. I'm sure there are other methods eg on conveyors as well.

I too am moving away from acme.sh for the same reason. Dehydrated looks nice but I started using goacme. https://github.com/go-acme/lego I wasn't set on only bash though.

Anyone with an electric oven can be done cooking that chicken in the air fryer before the oven is even up to temp. That is much better.

Strongly disagree. Maybe it's not "frying" in the sense of a big bucket of boiling oil, but there is a huge array of cooking that is vastly faster with my air fryer. Roasting veggies, roasted potatoes, frozen foods like fries

You might want to look at another client and dns-01 verification instead of the annoying mess of http-01. I'm replacing acme.sh with Lego currently. https://go-acme.github.io/lego/ Once you have Cloudflare (or one

Lots of MRIs and Cats still run Unix as well, even new ones. If it ain't broke etc etc, plus as a medical device it's a whole separate set of rules, testing, validation.

But that 1969 hardware did that one exact thing and nothing but. No networking, no displays beyond some digits, etc. It was a calculator. No one's calculator is running that large text editor, 20 Chrome tabs, Teams/Slack, Spotify.

While it's harder to calculate, that 4Ghz CPU comes with vastly faster RAM, busses, and disk. Not many 100 MHz systems around with NVMe or even SATA...

Ah interesting. I found it appealing to always have a way to get at the data natively as a worst case for restores. The whole use case is for Vertical Backup (from the maker of Duplicacy) to back up VMs.

Just finished installing it on my OpenIndiana NAS to replace Minio. Biggest difference so far is that Minio is just files on disk, Garage chunks all files and has a metadata db. Minios listing operations were horribly slow, still have to se

You can install something in the container to sync the files elsewhere. I use Syncthing in the container to sync some files to other devices, specifically my Obsidian vault.

From quickly skimming the docs, Fail2Ban can do a few other things like execute a script for the action. I have it doing an API call to block the offending IP on OPNSense firewall.
