This is not, nor are similar whiteboard questions, a good interviewing problem. Not because the problem is particularly difficult or uninteresting, but because no matter how much the interviewer wants these questions to just be 'signals' o

Better seems very subjective. I spent more time trying to figure out how to read a re.vu candidate's charts and visualizations than quickly digesting useful information about the candidate. I am a fan of exploring portfolios. I am not a f

Good looking shirts are all about good fit. None of your models have a shirt remotely fitted for them. The pictures currently do a disservice for both the shirt and the model! Fun idea, though I am not convinced it will go far as a busine

WakeMate is the only YC company that left me feeling completely duped for dropping cash on them. My whole experience with the product felt like a sham. Good on WakeMate for having the opportunity at a 2.0, because I personally feel like t

You no longer need an association with the military to sign up for USAA's checking/savings accounts. They're just really quiet about it. I made the switch to them a couple months ago. Signed up online and had an account minutes later.

There are unhappy people in every industry and in every position. But the game industry has surpassed the tipping point for popularity and 'glam' to make the detractors have enough social incentive/attention to be very vocal. There are leg

This observation is just not true, or maybe it varies depending on your position. As a developer in the industry, you will rarely be without a job or in a position where you can not jump to another studio. Once you are in the industry, you

Keep in mind your friend is at one studio of many under the EA umbrella. Just like the entire game industry, some studios are a mess. Unfortunately (and probably unfairly) EA takes the brunt of the bad PR. However, EA and most other studi

This is not the same mentality as the pirate discussion. A pirate gets a $60 game for $0. That's a huge price discrepancy. At used game stores like Gamespot, the difference between new and used is often $5 or less. It also doesn't matter

The used game market is money left on the table from the perspective of EA. A company should not leave money on the table if it makes fiscal sense to grab it. EA was probably 'comfortable' with the used game market as long as they were rol

I don't think it's theft at all. It's perfectly rational for a gamer to buy and sell used games. But it's also perfectly rational for EA to try to make as much money as possible from the used game market which completely undermines its bu

The hostility against these decisions always frustrates me. The market will sort this out, and I'm pretty sure despite all the moaning, it will fall in EA's favor. You can't expect EA or any game publisher to just give their product away. E
