As a volt owner, I agree. I love this car to death, especially because I'm not in a living situation that would make at-home EV charging easy (apartment). PHEVs are perfect. I drive EV 80% of the time but still have all the convenience

I have a 2011 volt and have had negligible degradation. Thats an N of 1 but from GMs data, degradation hasn't been an issue in volts.

That just side steps the problems, and Airbnb is just an excuse. There needs to be regulation that makes it easier for the tenant to also be the owner.

>The human genome is still not complete by any normal definition Well considering that the human genome is a moving target, it can never be "complete". However, it can be 99.9% complete, which is all but complete for all scient

23andme is casual genetics, and misses a lot of the variants that are important clinically. These ancestry sites are the entry point, but not the definitive answer. SNP chips are on the way out and whole genome/whole exome are becoming

Nobody shares your genome. Promethease though allows for gvcfs and other formats so that you can upload more comprehensive sequencing data with full coverage.

Just stupidly high coverage. Something like 200x coverage over six replicates from blood and saliva. We needed DNA for QA purposes and I happen to have DNA, dontchaknow.

Word of warning. Take promethease with a grain of salt. For example, promethease predicted a deletion in my genome (didn't actually observe a call, just inferred the deletion from linked sites) for a highly pathogenic disease in my dat

Colorizing single images will always been a bespoke task. There are just too much missing data in the image to be able to create high quality colorizations from the photo alone. However, I think the real application here is colorizing frame

Thats an expensive and dirty solution to a solved problem. Many opera houses have subtitles in the backs of seats. While not as ideal as in your glasses, it is certainly more comfortable, cheaper to buy and maintain, and clean. I get that y

Agreed. People underestimate how excruciating it is to collect large sample-sizes of genetic data. The database 23andMe has is so stupidly valuable because 1. the sequencing is already done (and paid for) and 2. They can follow up with surv

Honest question. What is a hacker going to do with my genetic data? What threat does having my medical predispositions publicly available have? Is the hacker going to call me up and suggest I start taking high blood pressure medication?

It is worth noting that these SNPs aren't causal, they are just associated. The resolution of GWAS isn't at the level yet where we can pick out individual changes that cause a phenotype. Instead we can detect that a chunk of the g
