Wake me up when they make one with the resolution of 2x 4K 16:10 screens. 8K 55” TVs are hard to beat as monitors too.

Yeah, the fact that a handful of individuals are allowed to make this much infrastructure effectively useless for hundreds of millions of people just so they can make their own millions of dollars from their scams is insane. Maybe someone c

Great political strat too: ruin the thing that is competing with the businesses paying for your campaign while pointing out how badly that thing is doing. Try to make it as unbearably bad as possible for everyone and pitch fixing it as part

Nice demo. It was off by a decade (thought I was younger, marked me down as a liar about my age lol) and obviously the beauty score was too low.

Honest question, does anyone have some examples of an acquired company thriving post-acquisition? It seems like they just all burn out or stop doing cool things. I’m thinking of examples like Nest and Tumblr, but I haven’t noticed any where

Saving the world doesn’t pay as well as helping destroy it through rabid consumerism. Until we figure that out as a society, we’ll stay on a downward spiral with capitalism.

The whole Node “works on my laptop” thing can be mostly resolved by ensuring that unit / intg tests run as a prerequisite for merging on a separate CI system with a clean (as in no existing node_modules) build workspace each time. It’s

F-strings and defaultdict make me dislike Python about 50% less. Date math still sucks compared to JS, and comprehensions tend to be less comprehensible reading code someone else wrote, but Python wasn’t really meant to be a functional lang

Love Ruby method chaining and .tap(). Ruby was the language I could most “think in” and write a lot of stuff then have it just work like I figure it would. Python makes me roll my eyes having to explicitly handle a bunch of random small err

Google App Engine was ahead of it’s time, but unfortunately not very good if you weren’t trying to write a webapp with the intention of scaling it on Google hosting.

“Let’s make a framework!” YAGNI. Best code is no code. Fix the people and process problems as much as possible before opening up the IDE or even writing the JIRA.

Hopefully some day we’ll have voice emulation so good that it can do convincing voice acting. I’d love these in the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch.

HPMoR is a national treasure. If, as a Harry Potter and science fan, you ever find yourself with a few days free to read something ridiculous yet insanely entertaining, give it a go.

If you want to build your own keyboard, now there are a billion parts easily available and tons of instructional videos on it. When I was a kid, model aircraft were fun, but you’d either go to the local hobby store or look through the Tower

Try cross-compiling Go apps that use GTK3 if you’d like to spend a few days in intense pain. It’s not there yet. Electron apps are probably the closest thing we have today that actually works correctly on Win / Linux / Mac.
