Correct me if I’m wrong, but “expensive dev” in the UK means $100-200k, whereas in SV it’s more like $600k-1m. Hope you find what you’re looking for, consider SV firms as they pay way better AFAICT.

It’s just so ridiculous to me that all these companies were forced to experience how remote work can work, yet they are choosing to pursue hard-line RTO policies, talent be damned.

Don't forget CA Prop 13 [1] Boomers all over Silicon Valley are still paying 1976 tax rates on their properties worth $2m+ now. Disneyland is a huge beneficiary[2], but ANY efforts to reform Prop 13, even just for commercial, are met w

To be fair, the person at The Verge couldn’t make it perfect because they didn’t remove all the adhesive around the screen, so already it’s Apple: 0, fools: 1.

Probably wouldn’t be that hard either to waterproof and seal everything, then have waterproof batteries and battery connectors that were splash-resistant with recommended removal + drying for a day if they do get wet.

Love the Framework idea, but I just upgraded my desktop from a 5950x to a 12900KS and I had to go from a 280mm AIO to a 420mm AIO just to keep it from thermal throttling. These 12th-gen Intel chips put out A LOT of heat. I hope that they of

There’s also the matter of familiarity — if you’ve already heard a song on good gear many times, your brain will fill in the gaps even on bad playback equipment, but finding new stuff might not be as enjoyable because much will be left out,

"I used it so I wouldn't need to rewrite the 300 proprietary internal libraries and dependencies our company also paid to write and maintain in that language" is probably a valid answer for many BigCo employees.
