The swiss system mostly works because the people are disciplined, believe in lots of self responsibility, they actually have militias with mandatory participation (like America's 2nd amendment, but the first clause isn't flavor te

I loved my Dyson but switched to Chinese robovacs because, even if stick vacs made cleaning the floor easy, I still sucked at consistency. Now I have three robot vacuums because my townhome is three floors.

Poor people pay payroll taxes, which usually is flat and doesn’t have a big deduction. At $50k, a single person is paying just as much if not slightly more in payroll as they are in income tax.

Moderate, business-oriented Democrats and Republicans would all agree with you, BUT these are a group of people that both sides of the party are railing against so they have basically no influence at this point. Even Obama, people selective

They did vote to ban minarets, which was odd. Also, the Swiss are fairly conservative in the classical personal responsibility sense, which makes for good citizen voters. They do this through an aggressive policy of education and assimilati

Tariffs are very populist and both sides have some amount of support for them, so I don’t see them going away. If anything, the democrats are less libertarian than the republicans (historically, before Trump), so I just don’t see them liber

It’s called dummy-mandering, when you try to create more districts that are less safe with tighter margins, but you get the math wrong or sentiment changes by the time the election comes.

Alaskans actually prefer Denali, even the republicans didn’t want the name changed back again. The state of Alaska itself officially adopted Denali as the official name in 1975, long before Obama made the political statement you are halluci

The article feels a bit late since we have come full circle: OOP attempted to force natural language ontologies into deterministic code, while LLMs can now process natural language ontologies directly. Prose has become the source code human

I'd much rather there be a pre-tax on loans rather than a wealth tax to prevent premature liquidation. The former makes sense: if you borrow money, you should pre-pay the tax you would pay once you pay off the loan, or at least some fi

Assuming China makes progress only because they copy the west is really arrogant. And it would require strict international control as you say, a world government that isn't going to happen anytime soon.
