My friend's family did this when they had growing boys. They might have split w another family, down to 1/4 of a cow, and it still took them the better part of a year to get through it.

Not a fan of how verbose and hedge-y the paper is, but I guess thats academia. In plain English, the question is "Are beef middlemen ripping off customers? (On purpose or through asymmetric laziness)" and the answer is "No! (

This comes across as patronizing to me. "Who's a good little verifier. You are!"

That kind of myopic thinking is exactly why google might be in trouble. Think about the problem, not your current solution. "I'm hungry" "I need to do my taxes" "My code dont work right" Searching for info

Godel would say you can always break the system. Game theory would say there are dominant strategies, and sometimes they require guessing or bluffing. Economics would say, once too many people are using a dominant strategy, it's time t

This is a reasonable idea, and I have a addition: Imagine you are standing in front of a line of tennis players. On one end is Federer, Nadal, etc. The line moves through the top 100, 200, and continues down to regular club people. At what

Wonderful, yeah, great way to put it into perspective. I hope everyone knows by now, but the media feeds off unbounded, hysterical-style risk. Putting a cap on the worst case (or average worst case) frees you from the fear of the unknown.

My favorite architecture combines raw elements (concrete, brick, structural supports) with softer touches. To me, the exposed skeleton denotes honesty and stability.

Same thing as the brain pretty much, except we have root control over the NN in a way we don't with the brain. To my knowledge, some angles have been explored. Finding which inputs maximally stimulate indiv neurons, and tracing that up

Sure, the article is overwrought, up its own butt, but I also find Walmart unsettling. The unruly, flea-market setup in the aisles vs the prison-like, industrial checkouts. Harsh lighting. Overly ordered + overly chaotic at the same time. I

?? Is it more difficult than just telling the teachers you're doing it? Give them a bit of notice, get the homework in advance, what are they going to say?

This is wild. Chess feels old-school and boring to me. Don't understand how it's competing with modern sources of entertainment.

I only saw that few seconds, but there's clearly a painful sexual drama/tragedy going on. Note magnus's overly blank face, the sunglasses, the spirited (but joyless!) dancing.

Totally agree, love the perspective. But while money is zero-sum, velocity of money is not. It takes trust to spend on investments or services. Less "stuff" happening means everyone loses.

Print is a way better medium for music reviews than anything with actual audio, paradoxically. You can't review music using audio, at that point you may as well just play the track. A written review is a kind of two-step, a puzzle betw

Probably not really about word recognition, but about being an agent in the world. Reading is fundamentally a passive experience. The best reader in the world may as well be Stephen Hawking. From my understanding, Montessori is more about d
