There's multiple levels of experience. Someone can get really good at the technical solutions without learning what the human problems are and how to solve them. For example, someone might dismiss IDEs as being unnecessary because tech

The main thing I don't understand about Rust's async/await situation is how it's not very inefficient on the CPU given that it fundamentally uses polling? https://doc.rust-lang.org/std/future/tr

This sounds close to the GUI setup I've been looking for: something like Love2d except using Lua to create a WinForms program instead. Which led me to finding http://underpop.free.fr/l/lua/luainterface/

Wow, Minetest looks really cool: Minecraft clone with a Lua API for modding. This may get us back into using Minecraft modding as a way to learn programming. EDIT: Oh, it's a game engine. Is there a basic 'vanilla' Minecraft

In your philosophy, music and art do not serve a necessary function, and eventually, even liking things will be made "more efficient" by using chemicals via pills to adjust the brain chemicals until the liking is added or the de

I like the freedom of not having to maintain my own services. That said, the easiest thing is to just not need services. Then you don't need to host it and don't have to worry about who is hosting it and everything that could go w

Scripting and generic IPC hooks are one of the coolest things computers can do, and they're more and more limited as time goes on. Just this morning I tried writing a Dark Mode menu bar app for OSX (I'm aware of NightOwl) and it&#

CSS variables are the best way to do dark mode, just use the variable everywhere, set it on html or :root, and change it either in .darkmode or a @media for dark mode. They're pretty much supported everywhere dark mode is. Surprisingly
