This happened outside of Amazon. Counterfeit product literally made it into their distributor's warehouses and was sold as legit. It's well-known, look it up on $search_engine: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/

Even #1 isn't 100% safe. Ubiquiti had counterfeit product get mixed into their own fulfillment chain. Let me repeat that, they had counterfeit product make its way into their own fulfillment chain, which was then sold legitimately to c

Sorry, I meant the HQ left Washington. Doesn't it impact taxes if you're registered as a foreign corporation vs local?

Top talent includes good, too. Leaving only mediocre to bad for everyone else. We're on the smaller side in SF, and I'm having a terrible time finding good ops people.

Uber's GPS and navigation data is such trash that this is halfway believable excuse. As a destination, Uber thinks I live halfway down the block on another street. It's not a convenience thing either. It's down a hill. It

That's only a recent development since the 80's. In 1948, when the filing status was adopted, married women overwhelmingly didn't work. Look at the law through a historical lense, not today's.

Sure. When the federal income tax was instituted in 1913, all of the tax rates were individual (and the lowest bracket covered most Americans). People who were married could lump sum their income and divide by 2 to find the correct rate. Ma

Married filing jointly is one of the more sexist things codified in US law. It basically says women make no money and the man has to provide for everyone with a big salary so deductions and credits for the big earner. Or it says that if you

This is the problem with the HackerNews libertarian streak. You're in favor of legalized drugs, prostitution, etc. But no one wants their daughter to grow up and be a crackwhore.

Heroin dealers are pretty smart. Even if you have a ton of money, they'll only sell you a bit at a time. They don't want you doing something stupid and messing up their gravy train. At least, that's what I was told by someone

I don't have a solution, but my point was that not all addicts are victims. For some, it's a conscious decision about choosing heroin over life (insert Trainspotting ending here). Unless the US adopts some sort of ASBO laws, there

Not entirely true. You can run half duplex gigabit connections on hubs. Not sure why you would, but you can. IEEE 802.3 covers all Ethernet standards and it still lists CSMA/CD. Largely for historical purposes, but it is in the spec. S

Switched networks are full duplex, point-to-point links, so there's no possibility of a collision from the transmitting station. That said, 802.3 still mentions CSMA/CD for half-duplex backward compatibility. Everything 10gig and
