Why is HN designed such that, in the post thread, when we click a HN title, the associated target URL is launched? For me this is confusing and mildly irritating, as I expect the individual post to be displayed, not the target URL. Instead,

OK but, how? How will lawmakers effectively reason with A(G)I to ensure nuclear missiles are not launched? How will lawmakers know when A(G)I is trying to convince them to authorize a decision of launching nuclear missiles (e.g., because A(

Some new functions aren't loading (e.g., user_is_member_of_role, txid_status, last_user_query_id). They do load here ( https://www.redshiftresearchproject.org/system_table_tracker... ).

Not sure why this comment is downvoted, as there are reports of "ads glitches" resulting in customers being overcharged for ads that no one ever saw (23 April 2023)[1]. See also "Facebook knew ad metrics were inflated, but ig

If Meta leaves (which it won't), wouldn't that actually be a tremendous benefit to EU? There are tons of overqualified persons in/from EU with ability to develop a better alternative to Meta offerings. I'd even go so far

Agreed. See also "How Facebook and Instagram became marketplaces for child sex trafficking"[1]. Meta has a problem: lack of ethics. EU has a solution: regulatory ethics. If anything, it is the US that needs to seriously re-evaluat

It's not hyperbolic nonsense. Further, your assertion is incredibly inflammatory, without any credible cause. You "checked your reels" and had experience A, when other people have reportedly checked their reels and post strea

Jeff Thomas's story deserves to be told. That said, I'm personally not in favor of the "kept" partner rhetoric, as it is sensationalizing someone's death. The article itself is legitimate. Ideology in practice carri

If almost every post is an ad, then it makes sense. Like others have pointed out, 70-90% of content is an ad on Meta platforms. Additionally, user retention has dropped. At the same time, Meta blocked account deletion across its services (I

There are relatively simple ways to enforce this. For instance, requiring companies to register all trackers prior to use. And in that registration process specify all metadata that would be collected. Terms of service for implementing trac

I like Brave Search as well. Goggles are super easy to create and manage. Brave's customizable Search Engines are also a helpful feature to further personalize the search experience.
