Theoretically, it could have easily returned to Earth with the Space Shuttle, assuming another vehicle could rendezvous and transport it to LEO. The Ascent State was 2.8 x 4.2 x 4.04m with a dry mass of 2150 kg. The Shuttle's cargo bay

I'm an engineer, but have had a similar observation with my wife. I am constantly tweaking and fixing things that bug me in our relatively new-to-us house. The feedback is usually along the lines of "I never realized how annoying

Yeah, for all its faults, I'm going to be really sad when "old reddit" dies. The main pages are garbage, but I'm in some truly great niche communities that are going to be hard to replace. And even if I do, they'll

I doubt it's feasible, but I've always been hoping for some payment service that would allow me to pay by the article across all news sites. My problem with paywalls is I don't want to buy a full NYTimes subscription just to

Man I was furious when the Zappos settlement a few years ago was a 10% off a future purchase coupon. I don't see any possible way that was a punishment. Never purchased anything with them since I saw that.

The biggest conflict I see is in many fields were you are dealing with dimensionless numbers, you are dealing with a lot of them once. Having to specify "With a Reynolds number of 1300 U and a Prandtl number of 1 mU" is a lot more

It really reminds me of this exchange from Better Off Ted: Veronica: There is no program to green the building. Ted: Yeah there is. They made a commercial about it. Veronica: I didn't say there wasn't a commercial about greening

Yeah, it depends on what you're looking for. McMaster is great for high quality serious Machine Shop level stuff, not so much for household oddities. Recently I needed some vinyl siding hooks[0], a really oddball size drawer slide, and

Same. Anything that plugs in, has batteries, or goes in my family's mouths is a no go for me now. I'm pretty much down to a few books, video games, and obscure fasteners/hardware/tools (which annoyingly they're just

I'm still piecing it together, but what I've found so far: In 2018 the Supreme Court declared the prohibition unconstitutional, and gave the legislature a deadline to pass a legalization bill - all the rules necessary for dispensi

I'm still shocked Craigslist has survived, virtually unchanged, since 1996. It's may not be the cleanest interface, but it's a nice reminder of the more utilitarian days.

I've started having weird redirects on any v.reddit.com posts too - they redirect back to main page instead of taking me to the video. I haven't fully tested what combinations don't work, but it feels like the beginning of th

Its slowly became harder from update to update over the last couple years of updates, and completely removed under normal circumstances in one of the last major updates. AFAIK leaving the ethernet unplugged is the only way to do it now.

It seems like there's a bug if you drag your mouse from the board area, off the board, then back on; it will automatically select the first unclaimed tile the cursor hits. I just progressed the game to a 14-36 loss by just waving my mo

At least things things like Kitchenaid mixers are easily fixable if you still have it. Ours recently died after about 8 years, and it was a pretty quick turn around from model number > spec sheet > motor number > $80 replacement. T

As far as I'm aware, rm -f !(text.txt) isn't enabled by default, at least in bash. You have to enable extended globbing by running 'shopt -s extglob' first (or add it to your profile). Great feature though, it adds a ton
