I make it 4 blocks of 4 random alphanumerics each, which is a pretty big search space.

This is very clever, but I don't understand why people choose to write natural language tests, rather than code. Yes, I've heard of those mythical teams that are rumoured to let their project managers/customers/users write acceptance tests,

No, the GPL doesn't allow App Store applications. I don't think Apple cares what you do with your source code.

MRI doesn't, but JRuby supports full parallel, concurrent threading. Which is brilliant.

This is brilliant. It reminds me of Sascha Pohflepp's Blinks & Buttons project, which swaps your photo with someone else's taken at the same time. There's even an iPhone app. http://www.blinksandbuttons.net/

That depends what you're trying to achieve. With a full disk clone you can lose a drive and be back up and running in minutes.

There's also Whisper, a Python library that's similar to RRD, and what Graphite uses for storage. http://graphite.wikidot.com/whisper

Sadly, Kickstarter isn't an option for most people outside the US, as you need a US bank account to draw the funds into. A limitation with their Amazon payments system I believe.

This is much more of a pain that it seems. To ensure deliverability you need to ensure that you manage SPF/Domainkeys records, that you're not running an open relay, and configure your own spam filtering. It's all quite easy to mess up, so

I'm glad we can't reproduce Silicon Valley in the EU. I'd rather we had healthcare and education for all, a top quality transport infrastructure and a more equal society. If we're going to build tech clusters, let's do it on our terms.

Non-standard? You can buy the paper in any Staples. It's standard width. They're selling physical products for more money than it costs them to make. That's the business model.

Apple forbid data gathering without user consent, but I think as long as you prompt on start up it should be OK.

I've just installed this in an app I'm working on. It's amazing stuff. I don't know how they continue to offer all this for free. Waiting to be bought by Apple perhaps?

Erlang is the first functional language I've written, and I found it very easy to get going with. The syntax takes a bit of getting used to, but it's a compact language with not too many constructs to learn. I bought the Erlang and OTP in A

I completely disagree. Libraries, in the UK at least, are a fantastic resource for the poor and marginalised. To see our current government's attempts to shut them down is saddening.

It's more than DRM though - there are no open ways of exporting annotations or bookmarks, on any of the major e-reading platforms. The Open Bookmarks project is an attempt to kick start this conversation, before it gets left behind. http:/
