I think a little of both. 1. She had no clue who this guy was suddenly staring at her 2. Didn't know Wikipedia needs $

The hundreds of millions of visitors from Google isn't enough? : ) Just joking, that's a nice donation. My wife was totally freaked out this week though...she had never seen the donation banner before.

I've always used real estate to explain my web business. Americans are (still, somehow) obsessed with real estate, so it goes over well. Domain Names are land. Websites/Apps that site on top of a domain name are houses. A great house on a g

Obvious when you really think about it, but it's so easy to want those engagement metrics higher and justify counting the first visit. Signing up isn't cool, you know what's cool? Coming back again.

Totally agree. There is a reason I don't use Bing...I don't like all the clutter. Now Google seems to think that adding more stuff to a SERP is going to help them save market share...I don't get it. They must be testing this stuff, so maybe

Isn't NYC the one city where you'd expect to see a lot of people in suits? Maybe they just got off work. Maybe their suit is your t-shirt you know?

That was highly entertaining. I think the best part was that I really had no clue what was coming next. I wish some of the animations moved a bit quicker though. Other than that....bravo.

Actually just the opposite. It shows up only when you are NOT signed into your Google account (at least on the top locations I've seen today).

I think they had a pretty nice long beta and many YN users participated. I know my programmer showed me this a few months back and was super excited about it. So, now that it's public everyone wants to rave about it. Makes sense.

Who didn't see this coming 11 months ago? Many founders seem to regret the sale of their baby...Arrington is no different. Acquisitions are tough when talented people are involved and it's no longer their ship to run.

Interesting post, but I'm not a fan of these multi-part blog posts, I rarely end up seeing the 'Part II' post that I really wanted to read about in the first place. Why not just write the whole story in one post?

This sucks. Rand and SEOMoz have been the biggest leaders for the SEO space for years. They've been able to successful communicate the value of SEO in a way no other firm has. And their tools are killer in the hands of a good SEO. I'm looki

Some basic line charts would add a nice visual I think as well. I could see myself using this while trying to raise money ("oh, you think our customer acquisition cost is going to be $50 for that channel? Let's just change that....bam!"). O

This is a neat little app. Went through the whole setup wizard in about 10 minutes, I could see myself playing with the different channels and adding more data as I have it for my startup. Integration with analytics and quickbooks would be

Probably not. It's actually a very exit-unfriendly state from a tax standpoint. Very high state income-tax rate and capital gains are taxed at your state income level as well. However, it's pretty sweet to pay the price listed at stores and

Yikes, I'd hate to be in the accounting department at S&P the next few years. Can you say, "random IRS audit". Crazy to see the feds calling out a company like this in a blog post. Crazy times.

Yes, but it doesn't save them. You hit refresh and those changes are gone. I see the value of this for alot of one-person development shops or front-end devs that do a lot of client design work. Your client calls you, "Hey, this thingy here

The victim of SEO? No, the victim of a scam and Google. The site barely has any inbound links, if this is SEO, they suck. This is a google fail, not an SEO fail.
