This “idea” has been implemented for decades around the world with lots of success.

Oh missed that! But kinda as expected: only works on 2 android phones (pixel 8 pro, S24). Pretty typical: Apple isn’t first, but also typically will scale faster with HW+platform integration.

I think you’re referring to my comment about this being huge for developers? Just want to point out I call this launch huge, didn’t say “huge development” as quoted, and didn’t imply what was interesting was the ML research. No one in this

The article says it’s lora a bunch of times. That’s clear. My comment above is about dev experience, memory swapping, tuning base models to each HW release, and app size.

“We utilize adapters, small neural network modules that can be plugged into various layers of the pre-trained model, to fine-tune our models for specific tasks.” This is huuuuge. I don’t see announcement of 3rd party training support yet, b

There will be further versions of this model. Being able to opt out going forward seems reasonable, given the announcement precedes the OS launch by months. Not sure if they will retrain before launch, but seems feasible given size (3b para

Here is a good one: deleting billions of objects can be expensive if you call delete APIs. However you can set a wildcard or bucket wide object expiry of time=now for free. You’ll immediately stop being charged for storage, and AWS will man

Too bad. I swear half the electron apps use it for ease of Xplatform build. I’d love something like this for giving my CLIs UIs.

Cool! What does building for cross platform look like? Would love if there was a command that produced my MacOs .app and Windows exe without me having to dive into package management/containers/signing headaches per platform.

You asked how it doesn’t feel native. Using a design system from a different platform, and not complying with the interface guidelines of the current platform, is a big part of not feeling native. And the frame drops and lack of system gest

Two of the examples mention are platform providers. If they standardize on flutter as their native UI, that’s fine and they are following my suggestion. If they port a BMW app from my dashboard to iOS / Android, I’m 99% sure you’ll see

I did an experiment with Kotlin Multiplatform. 1) Tooling for compiling/building was great 2) Most libraries I needed assumed Android Kotlin, and realized the multi-platform ecosystem is much much much smaller than the Kotlin ecosystem

Hi HN! I’ve built a mobile SDK with new user targeting architecture that improves user privacy, while also giving developers more precision and criteria to target users. I know that sounds super unintuitive, but by inverting standard user t
