This doesn't actually work on a phone, and supposedly the company pushes a solution for "creating responsive websites"? Cool.

That was my fault. I originally wrote the hed as "FTC Complaint: Dropbox Lied to Users about Data Security", which I thought would get around people reading just the "Dropbox Lied To Users" part. PG changed it to the hed from the article, I

I think it stands for Company Town, which is a section of the site/paper devoted to covering "the industry." Actually, I'm almost certain that's it.

At first, that was what I thought the flaw would be -- providing a file that has a hash that collides with another file, gets you that file. But it seems to me you would need to know the exact contents of the file in question to get that to

Kleinmatic is 90% correct -- reporters are used to banging out copy, passing it to an editor, re-writing it, passing it to a copyeditor, re-writing that, back through the ringer, and passed onto someone they've probably never met who fits i

I could be wrong, but I think it's the depth of the rupture itself. Earthquakes don't really occur "on the surface" via http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/glossary.php "The depth where the earthquake begins to rupture. This depth may

I made a similar map the other day for the LA Times: http://lat.ms/gJWWEK . Starts Thursday at the 7.2, and has every fore- and aftershock magnitude 5+ (until late yesterday, I need to update it). The nice thing about this guy's map is tha

My takeaway is that it's a bit like how your smart phone will wrap in your IM and SMS messages to a person in the same list interface. I'm guessing this will be something where you select a person you know, and up pops a list of all of the

To add to what Steve said, I would say: don't be afraid to use the mouse if you're in a graphical Vim. In MacVim, if I want to change a word, I'll double-click it, hit c and type whatever I want. You might say, "But you had to hit 'c' inste

All of these dire predictions of better technology dumbing us down are getting tiresome. People who are lazy, and wouldn't bother memorizing a route anyway, will be helped by something like SatNav or Google Maps -- and yes, probably use the

The notionink.in site is terrible, and I went into this prepared to be entirely dismissive of whatever the video contained, but I was really impressed. It looks like a legitimately cool device.
