You should ask your VC's. Few (if any) people on this board have taken a company public.

This is sick. How are they doing this? There's no API for Yahoo mail is there? Are they just monitoring HTTP requests (post).

Super sick. I still wonder though, is the trend to share information through PDF style formats or to convert it to true HTML.

Why? Xobni is 14 person company, do they really need an external CEO? Also, this particular hire didn't really succeed in social search @ Yahoo.

As a Googler, I want to say that I don't agree with a single statement in this article. Things like "Google says it's working on AI" represents a fundamental misunderstanding of what AI is.

It its current form Loopt is a niche product because it requires GPS. The salient feature of "My Location" is that it doesn't require GPS - this is what make it a game changer.

Cool idea, but I think the audience is limited. Which VCs did these guys land after YC?

Did not see the earnings report today? Google's revenues grew 56% year over year, they're not overstaffed until they're hiring people without growth.

This kid is crazy. PG, if you look at successful YC startups (Loopt, Reddit, Zenter) has there been any pattern in the character of the founders? I can't imagine someone with Aaron's character leading a successful company - his history (Inf

Cool product - still not sure if positioning itself as an Outlook plugin may limit it's appeal. They do mention future support for other platforms but given that Xobni is developed in .NET this might be difficult - and how do you integrate

"The vast majority of the developers at Google don't produce anything great. Lots more of them could, but not inside a huge bureaucratic company." I'm not sure what qualifies you to make that statement. Do you work at Google?

Apple's decision not to include GPS may be indicative of phones relying more and more on wifi and 2G/3G networks for "cloud" based approaches to location and mapping. I can't think of many problems that require GPS.

Is the video currently being delivered using the P2P tech? The platform note indicates that the P2P is still being tested. Congrats on being techcrunched, I actually graduated about a month ago with a couple of the founders.

It isn't obvious that the Facebook platform will be the premier platform for companies and developers to connect with customers. Facebook is first to the market with an open and technical robust combination of an API and distribution networ

Lack of GPS on the phone might not be that bad. Apple seems to be betting that WiFi is going to become more and more pervasive and as a result you can uses "GPS-Style" services through the internet, like Google Maps. It's something I think

At first I was like "Paul Allen loves facebook this much? Damn" Then I realized it wasn't Paul Allen from MS and classified this as more hype. Social Networks are still very young, Facebook is promising but the game isn't won yet.

Nice, another YC success (or solid start) story. I'm beginning to think that the YC's success is testament not only to the Summer/Winter founders programs but also PG's ability to select great talent.
