So what if HTML5 doesn't technically include CSS3 and JavaScript. It's helpful to have a simple term for "the collection of web technologies that allow rich UI applications in browsers released ~2010." HTML5 fits the bill. Look at what the

We learn to read before we learn to write well. Why do we start out writing programs? I've always thought programming classes should start with reading and understanding a program that has some loops, assignments, etc. Maybe a program tha

I thought Instapaper scraped the page and stored that, to accommodate sites that require login for access. So not trivial to just re-download the articles. Plus the whole point is to have them available when you're offline. I'd say in this

demand for the iPad 2 made the iPhone5 components (A5 chip) in short supply. I'm guessing the phone design has been finished, and they just were waiting for the supply of components to get better.

This reminds me of Apple killing the floppy. Anyway, this is all about negotiations to get more content in the streaming service. If newer movies and more tv shows appear in the streaming service, no one will care about DVDs by mail.

Constraints are important for innovation. By "not allowing" you do things, new ideas and solutions bubble up. And the market decides if/how much a particular product succeeds. Many devs on this board own both a full computer and an iPad. I

I agree. Actually, I was at the $99 Washington, DC conference and remember the food, wifi and coffee being fine.

"Make the iPad as irrelevant as the iPad seems to be doing to the consumer PC." I don't think this is wise goal in the short term. The iPad/tablet space is just ramping up. There is certainly room for competitors here, but I just don't see

When I look at the iPod evolution, then yes. I do expect Apple to continually innovate.

They should combine this with the cell-tower that looks like a tree . Could reduce the cell tower's electricity draw. Not sure these exist everywhere. Here is a Google Image search: http://www.google.com/search?q=cell+towers+look+like+tre

I'm a dad with a 5yr and 10mo old. There is no way you can care for a child and get more than 1-2 hours work done at a time. Tough to get in the zone/flow for sure. We do a nanny-share. Another family brings their daughter over, and we have

No ethical issue-- as kulkarnic said, why not just tell the gate agent, "I'm sorry, I can't fly on the final leg of this flight. Here's my boarding pass." Now there is no reason to delay the flight.

I noted the "[developer] tools were free, would always be free" line. Why does Apple charge $99/yr ? Seems like it might be a quality filter. Certainly doesn't stop the fart apps, but it seems like a nice indicator of "I'm serious about thi

It matters some. I've done some hiring, and in a technical field where the BS is commonly done a BA makes me a little skeptical. Like you couldn't handle or avoided the spectrum of harder science classes. Might not be fair, and it wouldn't

What if Apple is selling iPads at/below cost in a bid for marketshare? I could see Jobs et al guessing this would be a big market, and choosing to sell (especially the entry model) at/below cost. Reminds me of the Jobs' perspective on why t

Maybe it will cause last.FM to shut down, or maybe if last.FM pulls out of the iTunes store, it will fuel iOS competition with Android. Or maybe it will fuel mobile browser app development. I like how the market will decide how this all pla
