I think that depends on your expectations... I lived the days where you would connect to a computer hundreds of miles away through a 1200 bps modem. That was pretty laggy sometimes but always manageable... You kids are spoiled! :-)

I guess Ronacher is truly, deeply passionate about Python while the core developers are more on the practical side. This is one of the reasons why I like his code, I find all his projects inspiring.

Well, take the warning with a pinch of salt. Armin Ronacher (Flasks father) made HN first page a few times with rants about Python 3. Not that he has no reason for whining, he is just a bit overdramatic regarding some Python 3 issues - but

Well, we have it in Brazil. In the last 12 years the government effectively implemented a scheme to trade votes for money using social programs. The only thing preventing this country to go the Venezuelan way is the press being a bit strong

Where I live, the minimum speed is half the top speed, so if a bike is doing less than 20 mph in a 40 mph street it is theoretically violating traffic rules - not that it justifies anyone risking running over the cyclist.

Almost 20 years ago I typed "rm /lib" instead of "rm lib" by mistake. Kernel panic messages started to flash on the terminal and I felt butterflies on my stomach. It was a huge (at the time) Sun machine, took more t

It is a sad sign of our times: a post complaining about sexism - edited to change a hyperbole for a more politically correct phrasing. Sigh.

Brazil and Argentina had very similar economic plans to get out of hyperinflation from the 80's - both created a new currency whose value was attached to the USD. There was a subtle difference: Brazil forbade domestic contracts in doll

About the "Python to OCaml", the result is only 10% faster? Nothing wrong with that but some of the most frequent arguments against Python are related to execution speed, I would expect a bigger difference here.
