Even if I made more than that in the private sector, I would be willing to take a minor pay cut for this sort of position. If you think about it, you're helping put taxpayer dollars to more efficient use, which includes your own.

Well, sure, I mean you can say the same thing about almost anything a country holds against another country. But this isn't what people mean when they use these terms.

You are saying something I highly doubt you want to be saying. My "problem" is an online store. It is about 75,000 lines of code. It needs all 75,000 to solve the problem. What you are saying is that it would be "somewhat&

Note that fatalities can include both drivers and passengers. I'm also not sure where you got 80M active drivers from, I know there are around 200M licensed drivers but couldn't find any stats on active drivers. On a yearly basis,

There are not enough Teslas on the road to know if their autopilot is safer or not. But if you want to make a premature conclusion, it would not be that they are safer. Beyond that, tesla is not an autonomous vehicle. From what I can tell

Some like to say that you should never write clever code. But clever to who? Some people lambdas, map, reduce, and even polymorphism are clever. So in a vacuum the statement is meaningless. Whenever you're writing code you need to k

I'm not sure if this really answers the question though. There are plenty of languages that do more work than C does that are not as slow as python. Do they do less work than python? Maybe, but they certainly do more work than C. Th

You mostly have a reverse dress code in Silicon Valley. Just start showing up to your job as a Software Engineer at an SV startup in a suit and tie and see how people react. People are quick to judge, even in SV.

A petition isn't the best way to go about it, but, a lot of the comments in the OP about this imply a workplace that employees aren't able to bring their concerns up to management. Of course, this was just a dress code, but that

Yes we do, because everyone will die anyways. The reason why 9/11 was possible was because it had never happened. They could have added zero security measures, not even locking the cockpit door, and 9/11 still would probably not

Your guess is probably wrong. My wife had a black friend in a small town (~5k) without many black people. There weren't enough to have a "black part" of town but her friend was still constantly pulled over by the police. D

I would love to give all my income minus expenses. I could easily make it so I have zero after my expenses. But that's not how things work for individuals... and that's a large part of the difference.

No, all you need are cheap robots to get past that local maxima. The point of UBI is to ensure people don't become destitute when we reach that point.
