It seems like Google is a bigger offender than most tech companies. At least at IBM or Cisco they will tell you exactly where you are going to work before you accept the job offer. You will probably be stuck there or get moved around in the

Same thing for php. I really don't want to use Eclipse, but its a pain navigating source code using cscope. For instance, if you are looking for a method definition, it may list hundreds of matches. It has no notion of semantic analysis. It

I'm guessing the reason this got up voted so much was because this site was featured as one of the offenders. It is pretty hard to read the text on a sunny day on my phone. Maybe the revolution could start with HN?

I've been using Galileo. Is there a reason to upgrade Eclipse? I haven't had any problems so far. I only use Eclipse for writing Android apps and don't really see a point in upgrading unless there is something special I'm missing.

This should make a lot of the authentication stuff easier. You only need to write the code once and use it on both the front end and the backend.

I'm not sure by what is your criteria for arranged marriages being successful. Is it because there are less divorces? The reason for that is probably because divorces are extremely taboo or illegal in the places that have have arranged marr

Kind of reminds me of the scene in Portal 2 where you look at a painting for 5 seconds for your art appreciation time. I hope this isn't a mandatory activity like eating lunch with all your peers at StackOverflow. I understand the logic beh

Ocaml was the first functional language I ever used. I always heard it was fast. I didn't realize it was that fast. That I think is the most interesting thing about this post. I know he says C++ is significantly faster than the other langua

Most of the people that play Angry Birds weren't gamers before these type of games came out on smart phones. It is these gamers and others that don't currently play these casual games that will make up the vast majority of game players in t

Yea I was surprised they put the "show most chatty friends in chat list" as a product. That seems like a very small feature. Adding people to group chat? I thought you could already do this, but I don't really use Facebook chat too much. Se

The main reason I buy local fruits is because of quality. If you have to ship fruits from another country they're usually frozen and far too ripe when picked. On the other hand, when fruits are made for local consumers they are picked at t

Not sure I agree with the rampantly offensive part. If I remember in Duke Nukem 3D there is a strip club level. I wouldn't call that the best way to represent the empowerment of women. Of course, that was never the intention of the series.

The myth that engineers lose their game when they get older always seemed a little off to me. It usually gets clumped in with all the software jobs are going to go to China. I have met a lot of very bad developers that were older as well as

Fortunately this isn't as bad as the PSN fiasco. Its still not good to have your personal information leaked like that. That could lead to further security breaches for the people who's data was stolen.

I've never been a fan of Pandora. Usually my stations end up sounding like a typical classic rock FM station. The commercials they have on their site for the free service is almost as bad as FM radio commercials.

Its not the only way to do it. Twitter doesn't do it that way, neither does LinkedIn. They have their own Search Engines as well build around Lucene. I haven't looked at them in a while, but I don't think they were commiting every document.
