I'm assuming this is a joke. That picture in the background is a bit much. I opened the site at worked and closed it right after the picture loaded from fear of embarrassment.

I'd like to see netflix's library compared with films on imdb above a certain rating and number of reviewers. I'm pretty sure you'd see similar numbers like %1.5. Would also be interesting to filter this by dates. I'm sure there aren't many

No offense. But if you are making a site to teach people how to be better designers, you shouldn't make the site so ugly. This seems like a simple bootstrap site, but much uglier. I think it would have been better to just use the defaults.

No need for the 1995 solution, Yelp is just doing a very bad job at detecting bad reviews. It's usually rule #1 that in any type of "bad" user filtering that many people that are good users may not engage your site.

Is $10 the standard rate for a gimmicky kind of app like this on the mac store? Seems a bit high to me, but I'm not an expert.

Especially if you want people to adopt your API's. If I'm looking at using a service and I have to choose between a complicated or a simple API, its an easy choice. Starting off, you want to solve the most annoying problems first.

I think in this case the approach worked fine for you. Most of the times a hacky solution will do. Not everything needs to be cleanly architected and bug free, especially a weekend project.

I don't know if I agree with this. It seems like the more people there are working on a project, the more likely you will end up with a complicated ball of code. The reason being is people generally aren't working with the same mental model

I used to pay like $25 for a bundle. But with all the bundles coming out, I don't really feel like paying so much. I want to take advantage of the deals, but know I won't have enough time to play more than %10 of the games I buy. So, I've c

This post has been on Hacker News multiple times. It usually comes up on the weekend when people post a lot of Clojure stuff. If you read the article, it says that the Clojure implementation was meant to mirror Norvig's Python implementatio

Bottled water is a scam. Most of the stuff comes from water hoses. I'm sure the stuff they had at google was laced with tasty minerals and went through purification processes. There is so much plastic that ends up in the ocean/street becaus

This is very cool. I remember there was another clojure music library that came out several months ago. It was very cool, but nowhere near as cool and extensible as this. EDIT: this was the library I was thinking of http://mad.emotionull.c

They really shouldn't release these bundles that often. Last bundle had some really great games. And they included an earlier bundle. It was around 10 games. For this one all you get is Frozen Synapse. Personally, I was never really interes

I couldn't really follow this article. But looking back at Thief, it was really ahead of its time. I think games nowadays still cannot match up with its stealth gameplay implementation. I would include Deus Ex in this as well. It made a gre

I agree with his points on the Tinyproj stuff. Most of the projects there remind me of the job postings that label every fucking programming language/framework as a requirement. And then say you need at least 3-5 years experience with them.

Guess that's possible. You don't need upvotes to game the system. I usually don't read a story w/o comments. I'm sure I'm not alone in doing that.
