Eh, lots of software costs that much. Maybe a better question is whether Mathematica can pay for itself. An even better consideration for this site might be whether Mathematica could be useful at a startup.

Something about these Wolfram posts always sounds like a a shady late night infomercial to me. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Not knowing a lick of Haskell, these sorts of articles always make me wonder whether it makes Lisp look like Blub.

Yeah, I agree that it's still at the point where people will look down on you for using it in the colloquial manner.

Given the section on colloquial usage, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Begging_the_question#Contempora... I'd say that's rather prescriptive, maybe even SNOOTy. http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/DFW_present_tense.html

That is not the original implementation. The code you see there was an aborted attempt to specify and implement JS2. Brendan Eich wasn't involved, Waldemar is now at Google, and Netscape burned up somewhere in there. The original implementa

I think this page has nice technique, although it's a bit different than what your old CSS was going for: http://users.tkk.fi/tkarvine/pre-wrap-css3-mozilla-opera-ie.... P.S. -- disclosure: I work for Mozilla P.P.S. -- I kinda hate CSS

Yes, with all sorts of things. The same can be said of workplace safety regulations, minimum wage laws, child labor, drug safety, environmental laws, and on and on.

He can buy an unlocked developer handset from Android Market without these issues. I still think the Apache2 license will have them claiming closed-source stuff is not part of "Core Android", but it's a step forward.

I don't think this post is a good way to frame the argument. In particular, it's pretty hyperbolic when it comes to the effectiveness of Gates' philanthropic efforts. Like, what kind of madman would oppose the greatest giving campaign the w

It sounds like they just quoted the weekly project meeting, which anyone can dial into. In that context, everyone knows Beltzner meant blocking bugs. So yeah, just sensationalism.

I'll second the holistic approaches mentioned above. For me, almost none of the direct remedies work, but stressing less, relaxing, socializing, enjoying your work, and eating right certainly do. Also, make sure your sleeping habits aren't
