The app store is so painfully slow even over wifi. It used to be much better before the switch to the screenshot-heavy layout. I like the screenshots in theory, but it is so slow that it makes browsing apps feel like a huge chore.

This is a great idea. I once had a (US domestic) flight cancelled at the last minute because there weren't enough people on it, and all the airline offered to do was put me in a hotel overnight and pay for my meals while I waited for a

Yes. And these are problems that need addressing. Especially when the people who are doing worse are not even the ones earning the low income, just those with the bad fortune of having low income parents.

The FDIC limit is now $250k. It was originally raised as a temporary measure in fall 2008, but the higher limit has now been made permanent.

These maps are really interesting, although I agree that whether they are actually measuring gentrification is debateable. I would have found the site a lot easier to use if there were a big map view of the whole country where you could sel

Prop 13 helps to maintain the economic dominance of those who got here first though, which is why property taxes are often complained about in CA, even by those who tend not to complain about taxes.

This isn't just your phone. I encounter this specific problem a lot on an iPhone 5 running iOS 6. (And it is just one of the many irritating bugs with mobile sites that I see regularly).

This is very helpful, thanks. I was very surprised when I first learned that AMT will cause you to owe tax on your gains when exercising options, even if they are only on paper. (If the company is public or there is a private market, fine,

Talking with Comcast on the phone can seem like talking to someone from another planet. When I moved last year and needed to move my service with me, I was instructed to just bring the Comcast box to the new place myself, and then call a sp

This is an awesome idea. I would love the option to upload a short video clip instead of a gif though, and have it take 10 evenly spaced frames from the video. My nieces (ages 8 & 10) would love to use this to make prints of themselves

I was able to get my GAE costs way down by focusing on minimizing DB writes. Some tips: - Instead of storing an array in the database directly, store it as a json string. storing an array uses a DB write for every array element. - Don'

My insurance was billed $50,000 for my extremely uncomplicated vaginal birth. They didn't pay that much because of negotiated discounts, but that was the bill, and is what I would have been charged without insurance. (I live in the US)

Yes, this is it exactly. I have never even bothered to price it out per liter, even if it cost a bit more it would be worth not having to lug bottles of carbonated water home.

They are going through a resurgence, but from what I can tell it is mostly driven by people who want to make healthier carbonated drinks at home (like carbonated water + a bit of juice), not by people wanting to make a cheaper alternative t

Yeah, I was disappointed that they mentioned the 96% female figure and then didn't discuss it at all. It was more an article about why there are still so many secretaries, not why they are still mostly women.

While I didn't like the page divider in this demo, I also don't like having to see the screen whir by when you hit the space bar. Having the page flash past in the same direction you are trying to track with your eyes is not comfortable for
