Yah homebrew looks really cool. I'm pretty happy with MacPorts (except for its lack of speed sometimes), but will be keeping my eye on homebrew for sure.

That's pretty cool. I've shied away from zsh for some time as I'm very comfortable with bash, but a lot of evidence has been coming to me lately that makes me want to give it a go.

Yah that's a nice way to fix it as well, but I prefer to be able to continue using the "cd" command since it is burned into my brain.

I wrote a bash function yesterday which allows you to cd ... to move up two directories instead of having to cd ../.. Want to move up 4 directories? cd ..... Pretty useful, imo. Check it out http://blog.jerodsant

Fair enough. I was on my iPhone and about to go to bed. It was an interesting claim and I wanted to know if it was founded or not.

I don't know why people advise others to splat their compiled 3rd party software all over /usr/local when /opt is there specifically for that purpose. Also, enabling pthread on 1.8 has some significant performance problems unless you're usi

I have been happy with http://www.name.com (so far). $9 .com's with free private WHOIS and they don't mess with you at all. Actually, I called them today to check on a transfer and the customer service was good too.
