You can have that now if you subscribe to Kagi but it costs money to operate and use. So without advertising you're choosing to make it impossible for poorer people to search.

Directories would be advertising. All your proposing is a world where first comer world by default have a stranglehold on the market. It's a dystopia. Outside I can agree with and prefer Billboard free areas but you choose it online.

People here see ads regularly which is how hn pays the bills. YC hiring posts and company launches are all paid ads in the sense that being allowed to post them is why YC funds hn.

I've found cursor to be kind of bad at any larger chunks of code but useful for saving me typing by being very good at guessing the next line or two. It's also much better than me at html/CSS so I can say"create a layout

I'm not arguing LLMs currently generate great code. My argument is that it doesn't matter to the assertion that they make devs dumb. Tools being bad currently doesn't matter just like compilers being bad in the past doesn

You're trying too hard to argue here. Every 5 years or so of my career something new has come out to make coding easier and every time a stack of people like yourself come out to argue it's making devs dumb or worse. LLMs still ge

My C compiler has been generating assembly code for me for 30 years. And people were saying the same thing even earlier about how compilers and HLLs made developers dumb because they couldn't code in asm.
