Startup Riot is hitting its third year in 2010. It is absolutely not a pay to pitch event and has never been - selected presenting entrepreneurs pay NOTHING to present. They also don't pay for a booth or anything else other than their own

Totally get you and you're totally right. I wish things like demo day existed when I was funding my company. Would have saved me from talking to 200+ investors over a 10 month time span.

I'm one of the Shotput partners. I'm not sure if the implication here is that we specifically didn't intro our companies to investors from outside of the southeast. If so, that is entirely not the case. Myself and other partners continue

Yeah, it's actually a lot more difficult than one would think. Heck back in 1999 I thought it'd be pretty easy. The Internet is pretty wily when it comes to this kind of stuff.

All I can say is sorry. Yeah, the technology is my creation although Google doesn't use my old company's technology anymore (long story). I always tried to educate users with the proper way of implementing and using IP targeting. Doesn't

Check out @startupgossip on Twitter. I'm trying to post most of the events there. I also post stuff on my blog at sanjayparekh.com (altho I've been slack lately) when it comes to events I'm running. Start coming to events and you'll meet

I was 7 and got a TI-99/4A. I rocked it out by saving and restoring programs to cassette tape. You read that right, cassette tape.

Good ideas but there are issues with this approach. But to explain them here would probably cause me to run out of characters and bore 99% of HN readers. But you're absolutely right that some of these sources could help augment the accura

Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me since I've already had my exit from my company but unfortunately I don't think this is true. Given how much data collection and analysis has to go into good IP geotargeting technology, this really i

Quick comment but a disclaimer first - I have a prejudice on this subject since I founded Digital Envoy which was the first IP geotargeting company. I no longer work there and the company was acquired back in 2007. In general services that

Plus it provides a support system when things go wrong. And yes, things will go wrong. Something always goes wrong in a startup. But hopefully there are more highs than there are lows.

So I guess there is a two part answer. I should have said that in the title of this post but the wording I used was confusing and removed by the powers that be - as it should be. I didn't change it to say "inspired by" because it's a moot

That may be but I'd ask you to look at the founders of the fund. It isn't like they've accomplished just a little. Well, maybe I've accomplished just a little. The other eight guys, pretty impressive.
