How on earth did I miss this. It overlaps all my hobbies AND everything I do for work. Thanks for posting that.

My collection at that time ('05-ish) was mp3, ogg, & flac, ~33% each. WinAMP was still king (and still is, dammit!) and could even manage my iPod Nano without needing to install itunes bloatware. A statement like "Anyone with

A lot of the more experimental Autodesk products are of limited use outside of America due to forcing you to use their own cloud services. Many governments and defence-contractors don't allow use of foreign servers/cloud services

I was wondering about that. Every update when it says it's unsigned I get really nervous and triple-check the source and monitor traffic during the install.

Someone got paid to make that. That was someone's job. That's freaking awesome. ...I wonder how tricky this would be to auto-generate in Unreal Engine.

No you don't; that time never existed. It's just that previously the only people with voices were the powerful. Look at what happened when George Pullman or Trump or John Adams had their opinions challenged. They throw childish ta

In a lifetime of regret and missed opportunities, this is one area at least where I've learned my lesson. I can now go through a whole game and use all the "special" stuff that I'm given, and usually even at the appropri

A generation raised on New Dr Who would eat it up, especially as in the SCP one of QNTM's first antagonists is called "Grey" - a nice physical (and vaguely conceptual) similarity to The Silence.

$2000/month is wrong, too. It's $750/year.

Fair call. I guess I cast doubt on that because I knew the resolution assertion was wrong. The TOS says that the minimum subscription length is 1 year, so that brings the absolute minimum cost to US$3990 for the VR-3.

by samplatt 5y ago
Got a source for the "forces you to subscribe" bit? Everything I've seen says that part is optional. Also, even disregarding the extra focal-spot screens, you're wrong about the resolution. It's the highest of all h

Not sure the Dune simile is a good one, here... in the prequals they're shown to be humans hooked up to nutrient feed lines. Or that was the point and I missed it...

If you haven't already, you need to read as much Greg Egan as you can. His short stories "Learning To Be Me" and "Closer" are as disturbing as they are wonderful, but it's the novel "Zendegi" where Eg

Frustratingly, the subsequent seasons try to address different issues and questions without answering any of the quests raised in the previous seasons. It's almost like they want to jump from topic to topic so as not to spoil the pote

It'd be really nice if "figuring out what you want to do" was a course you could take, external to school. Re-evaluating how to effectively spend your time is really hard to do, especially for those without friends or family

It'd be nice if there was some sort of "DNS indexing but for quality of information". The content quality would change too quickly to be useful, of course.

That makes the whole article make a lot more sense, thanks. I guess I was reading the body as if it was elaborating on (what I read as) a complaint in the headline, not a question leading to an answer. Looks like it was -I- who was dying on
