Just use "they" or "she/he" instead of "she"... The typing isn't hard, the hard part is keeping yourself from making assumptions about who people like to date. There's much more than a "tiny

I just made the transition to contractor/consultant/freelancer. Some thoughts more on the consultant side: - Logistics: set up a domain with a one-pager landing page[1], get some simple business cards, and get a work email. I ende

Surprised nobody’s said Google Docs yet. It’s up on my laptop in every meeting. It works well on every device, supports simple text notes or fancy formatting, good sharing options, good live multiuser editing, inline comment threads, free t

I understand the temptation to “just use code”, but I’ve experienced this going wrong at even small team scales: - Our programming languages just don’t give us an efficient abstraction to think about user flow. This tool shows in one diagra

I meant to say that the “VC or bust” myth works in favor of VCs (since anyone in need of any money at all will feel like they have to work with VC terms)

Good to hear. > If you really don't want to raise money from outsiders, just don't raise money. This sounds like it’s perpetuating a false binary between VC and bootstrapping. This probably works in VC‘s favor, but not individu

And it's actually way cheaper for small apps if you "upgrade" to the Blaze plan and do pay-as-you-go billing. I often pay between $0 and %0.05/mo... Full pricing: https://firebase.google.com/pricing/

My fault--I've re-added the sample env files, you can copy these, remove ".example" from the name, and add your keys: https://github.com/sampl/firefly Thanks for trying it out!

Yeah, I never found Rails as easy to learn as others did. Maybe it’s because I was younger and less experienced than now. Or maybe I’m dumb.

Guess it depends on what you consider expensive. For me, time I’m writing unnecessary code or learning libraries I don’t already know is time I’m not spending thinking about the product. I’m a designer who just wants to ship. I am open to s
