idk an url of a video file passed to a player worked 20years ago as it does now. "the streaming video tech" integrated the player into the browser to control it and show ads. not much gained imo.

also a question of codec. h264 is still the only widely supported in-hardware decodeable codec out there (cheapest for the client) but google serves webm by default (cheapest for them and built in-house) ytdl-format lets you choose

yea, mobile devices are limited by the ammount of thermal energy they can dissipate. most laptop cooling systems top out at around 30W, anything more is peak load or charging. my i7-6600u idles at around 3W

thb it is very dependent on the location. ie. i get good 4g signal in most of the forests in bavaria but no signal at all in the lobby of my local hospital.

completely agree on most points but starlink is not likely to beat the speed of light, so geolocation is still the dominating factor for latency. it will improve the situation for regions with poor wired infrastructure. funny thou how 8gigs

the wording "can be faster" tells that this is the upper bound. ie. it is generally about the same, while it can be 15% faster or slower than the ip4 average. sample sizes are most likely somewhat different aswell .

really surprised that india apparently has data caps in the terrabyte range... typical usage in germany is around 150gig/mo. is p2p that much more popular? are you streaming everything in 16k+?
